Tough losses are hard fought games that you come up on the short end of the stick of. This was an effin' travesty. To call this a tough loss does a disservice to all tough losses everywhere.

Here here... Tough loss is a back and forth game where you don't end up on top. Having your team up by 18 and then poop themselves is unexplainable.
as a "new, negative poster" I just wanted to throw out a point that no one else has mentioned in their post-game freak outs. outside of cadougan, we had 19 bench minutes, and the team was absolutely wiped. poor coaching.

It depends how you judge things. People will rank this as an epic loss because it was a game we had won. We never had the Final Four game won, thus the huge difference.
We had the Washington game won in the NCAAs last year and crapped the bed.
We majorly crapped the bed today.
You could argue we crapped the bed again Missouri in Buzz's first year as well....I don't necessarily agree but I know some people who feel that way because we were leading that game as well.

Vander had 2 fouls most of the first half, came into the game in the second half and promptly picked up another.
If you are truly surprised that Williams and Gardner didn't get more minutes, then you don't really understand basketball.

Personally, a single conference game that didn't decide whether or not we make the tourney (yet!) will never be as bad as getting embarrassed on the national stage by Kansas.
And to be perfectly frank, I don't think anyone else should either. :)

Well you can have that opinion. But I don't see how the ff was more 'soul crushing'. Not even close.
That game: We lost to a better team
THis game: worst team
that game: we had already gone on a magical run further than anyone thought
this game: the loss could end up being the difference in us going to the NIT
that game: we were never really in it.

This guy sounds like a total nut job. It's just a loss, dude. Get over it. I traced this loser's IP address. I think it's coming from St. Louis or Clayton, in Missouri.
Michigan State in tourney was an awful loss.
Stanford was heart wrenching.
Blowing the game against 'Cuse and letting them take the game in O.T. in '09 was a worse loss and AT HOME.
Even NC State last year. Up by eleven at home at half to just fall apart in the second half was bad.
At USF.
At DePaul last year (as early mentioned)
The game today wasn't pretty, I get that. But the team still played a hell of a game on the road. Should have one. Buzz, staff and players are kicking themselves. They will have to stand up after this or else they can let it beat them more than today. Hopefully they can keep the fire for the entire game next time in the same situation.
Menifee, CA? No, that can't be right.
We missed a few easy lay-ins close which would have cut the Louisville run off before it started. Louisville simply woke up and maybe we felt the 5am shoot around. But we still played pretty well offensively. It's hard for me to judge the defense when for most of the game Louisville sucked. Oh well. On to the Packer game. Better luck next time Marquette. Keep grinding an we shall overcome.

There is no argument that we crapped the bed mightily today and against Washington, DePaul, Florida State, etc. We have seen this a lot in the last few years.

Two shots at UConn too, another quality win potential opponent. And of course we'll get a shot at one more if we make the quarterfinals of the conference tourney. There's still chances, but we have to start capitalizing on them soon, If we can win 3 of our next 5 we'll be fine. Anything less and we're in trouble.
Does Marquette try to take out their frustrations against DePaul? Or will the team be looking ahead to a redemption game against ND? I still expect this team to win, but that loss can do funny things to players' psyche.

Well, he should have included UCONN in his list of good teams, but if we go 11-7, beating (in schedule order) WVU, Rutgers, ND, DePaul, USF, Georgetown, St. Johns, Seton Hall, Providence, Cincy, & Seton Hall I do not think we get into the tournament.
