They have a coach who knows how to win and he has been very smart about how he has assembled their roster. Notice how they have an appropriate depth of players at each position.

They also have a coach who has been there for 7 years and has his system and all his players in place.

He also went 14-15 in his first season as a head coach and 11-17 in his second season as a head coach.  He then went 59-68 at Iowa State and has made the NCAA Tournament once in 3 seasons since joining the Big East, when his son was a senior who would've been 2 years into the NBA had he not been playing for his dad.

But who's counting anyway?

He rallied back after his son graduated . Assembled a new crop of talent and has the program in a very good place and sold out arena every night. He understands how to win. 419 career wins. 6 NCAA tournaments.

Creighton has done a good job of making the most of their Big East Opportunity.

Awesome.  In his 14th year as a D1 college head basketball coach he "rallied back" after his son graduated.

He did go 14-19 the year after his son graduated, and then had an NIT season the year after, and hasn't made an NCAA Tournament since.  Oh, and hasn't made an NCAA Tournament since Wojo has taken over at Marquette, but again, who's counting?

Creighton did very well last year, when they made the NIT and we will find out if they make the NCAA this year. It is clear they are performing well. I would gladly take their coach and their entire roster in trade for ours.

Really I just can't respond to this kind of crap any more.  Greg McDermott is a nice coach.  Over the course of time he will get some teams in the NCAAs and maybe win a game.  But that's all he really is.  He's a mellower Mike Deane.

I'd roll the dice with a younger guy with upside any day of the week.  And if that doesn't work out, I would do it again.

Georgetown is just Fing weird.
Georgetown had to play the first 4 games without their center who was granted a sixth year, but he sat out the first four games. Why the NCAA does this is fling weird to me. Either give the player a 6th year or do not give him a 6th year.
