Very upsetting Moore is out. I loathe Kansas. Is there any chance Nova can pull this off?

Sure

Yes
-
Dixon has to play well imo. Kansas has two pretty solid bigs. My gut feeling is Nova needs to go about 40% from distance and drill 12 threes or more.
-
Sure
Yes
Always a chance. Nova has talent, and Wright has a plan.
-

I think that’s about right. Have to make a lot of 3’s. They play very slow and if they’re missing shots, it could be a long night for them
-
Kansas epitomizes corruption as a basketball program.

Kansas epitomizes corruption as a basketball program.
I know. That’s why they win. Pay the players
-
Not a good start. Ouch.
-
Game over. Start the bus, call the hookers and get some coke
-
Gillespie might want to calm down.
-
I know. That’s why they win. Pay the players
Yeah I kinda admire these programs that just thumb their noses at the NCAA.
-
Nova better wake up or this is over.
-
Not much Villanova hasn't done poorly so far
-
This is a total abomination. 5 turns for Nova in 7 mins?
-
Adbaji, Murray, or Davis? Who's the best pro in this trio? Nova has big probs. They may have to muck this up. Zero fouls for Kansas in 8+ mins.

Depends on who they get drafted by. Not sure any of them are NBA difference makers but can be really good contributors in the right environment
-
Sweet Jesus.
-
What is it with Kansas blow outs in the final four in New Orleans?
-
I'm starting to have 2003 flashbacks
-
I'm starting to have 2003 flashbacks
Yes. That whole thing was on Crean though. Totally unprepared.
-
Not that Nova can’t come back, but they just aren’t built for it without a lot of help from Kansas tonight.
-
Not that Nova can’t come back, but they just aren’t built for it without a lot of help from Kansas tonight.
Not over but they can't guard Kansas at all.
-
Wow. Kansas might hit 100.
-
Jay Wright is going to come out after halftime in a $4000 suit and Villanova will start playing like it's 2016
-
Jay Wright is going to come out after halftime in a $4000 suit and Villanova will start playing like it's 2016
Kansas is playing out of their minds but it looks like a complete mismatch.
-
This is why I wanted Houston to beat Nova. Even if Moore was playing, I’m confident they would’ve given cheating KU a better game due to their intense physicality.
-
Hopefully Nova can get this to 12 or under.
-
If they don’t go like 8/12 from 3 in the second half, this is more than over. They just play too slow to stay with a hot team
-
Big shot from Gillespie.
-
@DienerTravis: Kansas has been known to do this to teams in the Final Four 🤷♂️🤷♂️
-
Give Nova a lot of credit for getting back into this. They took some haymakers
-
Give Nova a lot of credit for getting back into this. They took some haymakers
Idiot
-
Really amazing KU isn’t up 25
-
Amazing how many wide open 3 pointers have given Kansas. Open by 8 ft
-
Good grief!! Cannot let Adbagi get spot threes.
-
3-pt defense is luck based 101. Nova opponents shot 30% entering this game, KU shot 36% entering this game
-
Amazing how many wide open 3 pointers have given Kansas. Open by 8 ft
Yes. These are practice threes. WTH?
-
If Nova makes this a 2 possession game by the 4 min mark ya never know. Self bothers me. I just don't like the guy.
-

I love him
-
And 1!!!
Somehow Nova is there.
-
Get rid of the charge. Such garbage basketball.
-
It appears the hill is just too high to climb. :(
-
Thought Raftery said "big time fetish" for a second
-
Dagger. Smh.
-
Nobody was beating this version of KU tonight
-
I love him
People forget that even though he’s dirty, he can still coach his ass off. What he did at Oral Roberts and Tulsa was impressive and he made a decent Illinois program into a beast in no time at all.
-

He took over a good Tulsa team and made them better. Had a legit shot at a Final 4 with them in 2000
-
Nova players, remembering the two losses to Marquette, are bawling.
-
Great season for Nova but ultimately a failure and should put Jay Wright squarely on the hot seat entering 2022-23.
-
nova sucked. cry ur way home. were better
-
Cheating sacks of crap Kansas wins. Soon to be vacated I hope
-
Why would their title be vacated?
-
Great season for Nova but ultimately a failure and should put Jay Wright squarely on the hot seat entering 2022-23.
:)
They couldn't guard Kansas. Especially inside.
-
Game over. Start the bus, call the hookers and get some coke
Acquiring the coke should have happened much earlier, fwiw. Hookers are a dime a dozen.
-
Why would their title be vacated?
Because Kansas in under investigation for recruiting violations including a recording it is claimed of Self (through their shoe company) offering $100k to a player if he commits to Kansas.
-
:)
They couldn't guard Kansas. Especially inside.
Can Jay Wright win the big game?
-
Can Jay Wright win the big game?
No, he clearly can't get over that hump.
-
It's unfamiliar territory but I'll be rooting for UNC.
-

Pretty sure you are talking about Will Wade being recorded.
Regardless, I hope the kid got the $100,000.
-
Well... the MU uniform made the Final four....pregame highlights, so we've got that going for us
-
Rooting for UNC
-
go theo?
-
I hate to say it but they really need to get rid of all three of these guys. They honestly are just not good. Raff was good but they really should find a different crew. Ian Eagle for sure and probably Spanarkel and a 3rd
-

Five level 1 allegations tells me that Kan$a$ and $elf are a bunch of cheaters.

Smart

Pulling for Duke

What's the over/under on how many times the camera will show Coach K during the game?
35?
50?
75?
100?

one thing ive noticed is pretty much every commentator is disliked by some chunk of ppl. proablly 3 or 4 guys universally liked. i thought the crew was fine
-

They're horrible Johnny. The fake laughter by Nantz and Hill? What's up with that? And Raff is well past his prime. Time for some new blood.
-

I just don't like the cut of his jib.

Sadly, agree with you about Raf. He has a half-dozen catchphrases he can't wait to spit out, he makes obscure references to stuff that happened even before I was born, and he talks in jargon the rare times he actually tries to provide analysis.
Eagle and Spanarkel would be great. Harlan or Gus Johnson would be good pbp, too. Brian Butch is way better than Grant Hill.
But at least these guys aren't SO bad that it affects the enjoyment of the game, like some of the REALLY bad ones.
-
Five level 1 allegations tells me that Kan$a$ and $elf are a bunch of cheaters.
Yes. I want anyone to win but the, preferably Duke as UNC has their 18 year run of paper classes
-

Here's the bottom line: Nantz is still good at golf but he is nowhere near as good as Ian Eagle. It's not close. And frankly Harlan, Anderson, and Gus Johnson are better as well..
HIll is laughably bad and brings zero to the broadcast.

Agreed - Nantz is horribly overexposed and should stick to golf. Give me Ian Eagle or Kevin Harlan any day for the tournament.

Still taking the over.

Theo about to get big mins.
-
2 seconds after I get back to the basement and Theo called for a foul. Just like old times
-
Carolina bricking from distance. They're getting clean looks.
-
THEO!!
-
THEO!!!
-
THEO!!!
-
Theo has been the best player on the floor?
-
Great season for Nova but ultimately a failure and should put Jay Wright squarely on the hot seat entering 2022-23.
Lol, I knew one of the Scoop geniuses would try to do it. The excuse machine is strong here.
-

Lol. Sure.
-
Weak foul call against Theo
-
Lol, I knew one of the Scoop geniuses would try to do it. The excuse machine is strong here.
Enjoy the veal
-
I will admit not watching anything other than MU games this year. I'm surprised how much Theo is playing
-
how tf did this unc team lose so many games this year? dawson.?
-
Theo about to get big mins.
On da pines, hey?
-
Theo gets called for smashing his head against the offensive players elbow. Normal times
-
Pretty surprised K left Theo on the floor.
-
I will admit not watching anything other than MU games this year. I'm surprised how much Theo is playing
And gets his 4th foul (after getting in because Williams got 2 fouls early). He doesn't usually play this much, but Williams also doesn't usually get 2 fouls early.
-
Seems Theo is being targeted and the refs are playing this game too, #s two and three were questionable/ticky tac.
-
I hate to say it but they really need to get rid of all three of these guys. They honestly are just not good. Raff was good but they really should find a different crew. Ian Eagle for sure and probably Spanarkel and a 3rd
You say this every tournament. Hill does stink.
Jim Nantz is iconic. Miss Billy Packer.
-
Fourth was a bad call, but the other three were pretty standard Theo fouls.
-
Love and Manek have basically done nothing in the first half.
-
Clear foul on Theo.
-
Wow has Manek been bad. He looked like Larry Bird vs us and Baylor.
-

its written in the stars
-
I'm all in to to see Theo in the title game
-

If the refs always target Theo, maybe it’s not Theo?
-
All four fouls called on Theo were legit.
-
All four fouls called on Theo were legit.
And Bacar should have at least 3 by now
-
Duke did well with Theo and without Williams.
I suspect they'll also do well in the 2nd half with Williams.
-
Love or Manek are going to have to hit some triples.
-
And Bacar should have at least 3 by now
Well he has two so 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
-
If Duke wins, Theo taking those 4 fouls will be a big reason why. Good lesson for coaches
-
Kansas seems like they won’t have much trouble with either of these teams on Monday
-
Kansas seems like they won’t have much trouble with either of these teams on Monday
I suspect that's true, but I wouldn't have believed either Duke or UNC had a chance at the beginning of the tournament either.
-
Kansas seems like they won’t have much trouble with either of these teams on Monday
It's hard for me to tell. UNC has finally hit some triples.
-
Kansas seems like they won’t have much trouble with either of these teams on Monday
Both these teams are really good and they have the big athletes to provide some resistance in the paint that Nova wasn’t able to tonight. Whoever moves on in this game, it should be a great finals.
-
Cmon Duke…Save me from a North Carolina/Kansas final.
-
wades
I agree both of these teams are awfully good.I think it is going to be a great final regardless of who wins this game.
-
Good stretch of hoops the last few mins. I'm not sure why Duke wouldn't just let Banchero destroy Manek every possession.
-
Good stretch of hoops the last few mins. I'm not sure why Duke wouldn't just let Banchero destroy Manek every possession.
Agreed. Seems since I said neither of these teams would have a chance against Kansas, they both decided to prove me wrong.
-
Theo will foul out before the next timeout
-
This game is awesome. I think a lot of these guys will be on NBA rosters in the future.
-
Great game and hope we get an OT or two.
-
If I was Duke I would get Banchero the ball every possession. 6 fouls is a problem for UNC. Duke with just 2.
-
This game is awesome. I think a lot of these guys will be on NBA rosters in the future.
yes. 4 or more will be on an NBA roster next year.
-
Davis needs to call a time-out.
-
Who saw 8-2 in second half fouls in favor of Duke?
Oh, everyone in the world did?
-
No foul there on Duke with the reach on that drive?
-
Who saw 8-2 in second half fouls in favor of Duke?
Well, Theo hasn't been on the floor.
-
Ughhh. That's an absolute killer for UNC.
-
How was that not a foul on NC but was on Duke?
-
Whoever wins tonight is going to be gassed against KU Monday night.
KU first half spread will be a good play.
-
Big whiff on that sequence for UNC. Bacot can barely get off the floor.
-
Whoever wins tonight is going to be gassed against KU Monday night.
KU first half spread will be a good play.
Definitely an advantage for Kansas.
-
I can’t believe a team in the final four has only hit 3 three pointers
-
I’m starting to feel like my insults have an effect on this game
-
Wow. Bacot is flightless. But what a sequence.
-
I’m starting to feel like my insults have an effect on this game
So I guess you need to choose a side?
-
Theo will never play in a championship game

Theo will never play in a championship game
So you want him to? I'm so confused!?!
-
Does Bacot have a “Loser” tattoo on his left hand ?
-
So you want him to? I'm so confused!?!
Yeah, I’m not sure I thought that one through
-
I haven’t looked in the last couple weeks, but I wasn’t seeing Caleb Love in any mock drafts. I’d absolutely use a late first round pick on him.
-
Won't happen, but I'd love OT.
-
Why in the world would UNC call a time-out there?
-
I can’t believe I’m going to be rooting for Kansas in a basketball game on Monday
-

Sinkhole my friend, always cheer for the sinkhole.
This blows, I really hate basketball sometimes.
-
Heck of a win for UNC but Kansas has an enormous advantage. Especially with Bacot's ankle.
-
Love the hands off way that Hubert Davis coaches.
-
If Duke wins, Theo taking those 4 fouls will be a big reason why. Good lesson for coaches
Sitting an important player for a half after two fouls is a poor choice ??
-
Delighted to see UNC win and looking forward to seeing them beat the JayHawks. Hubert Davis is a quality guy.
Also pleased to see Duke lose to their hated rival
-
Go Kansas
-
An impressive double for Carolina - spoiling K’s final game at Cameron and then putting him out to pasture for good.
-
An impressive double for Carolina - spoiling K’s final game at Cameron and then putting him out to pasture for good.
So good. Carolina can hold this over Duke for literally eternity. Would’ve been better to have lost to Arkansas.
-
I haven’t looked in the last couple weeks, but I wasn’t seeing Caleb Love in any mock drafts. I’d absolutely use a late first round pick on him.
Wow. That's surprising. I would have thought he was a potential lottery pick..but I've only watched him play in the NCAA. Kid is a stud. RJ Davis too. Think Wojo was runner up for Davis. If Bacot's ankle is good for Monday night, I like Carolina. That starting 5 is amazing.
-
Duke burning their time-outs didn't help them.
-
An impressive double for Carolina - spoiling K’s final game at Cameron and then putting him out to pasture for good.
Talk about bragging rights. Wow.
-
Rooted for Carolina the entire game. Feel like I need to take a shower and go to Confession ASAP.
-
I haven’t looked in the last couple weeks, but I wasn’t seeing Caleb Love in any mock drafts. I’d absolutely use a late first round pick on him.
I think you’re right. Generally considered a mid second pick, but may well have played himself into the 1st round.
-
Games like this are the reason it’s better for teams like Saint Peter’s to get knocked off before the Final Four. What a terrific, high level game that was and will hopefully be another good one on Monday.
-

He's been. huge all tournament.

Loved the Davis boys when they played at UNC. Walter was one of my all time faves.
-
After the thrashing Kansas gave Marquette in the 2003 semi-finals, I could never root for Kansas.
Isn't there some type of moral victory for Marquette to say we lost to the NCAA champions if UNC wins?
-
Theo will never play in a championship game
F Theo.
-
Duke burning their time-outs didn't help them.
‘Great’ coaches do that sort of thing
-

No. But Carolina obviously under achieved during the reg season.
-

Feel the same way about North Carolina because of the Sean May offensive foul bonanza in 2005.
This sucks. I can only think of one worse final than this and that would be Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin.
-
Is there a camera on Coach K's car? I really hope they show him leaving the arena.
-
caleb love is good as hell
-
F Theo.
And the horse he road in on

Really fantastic game tho
-

Poor man’s Coby White

Wonder what Dawson Garcia is thinking...
-
Is there a camera on Coach K's car? I really hope they show him leaving the arena.
Hah, after all the arena entrance theater, that would be appropriate.
-
caleb love is good as hell
I think he had 24 in the 2nd half?
-
I can’t stand either Kansas or North Carolina. I hope the roof caves in while no one is inside so no one can win on Monday.
-

Good comment. Great game.
-

F Theo.
Did Theo steal your lunch money? What did he do to either of you to deserve that?
-
Why in the world would UNC call a time-out there?
Maybe to reinforce the defensive strategy on a make or miss. Can’t call a timeout after the free throw to talk to your guys if he misses.
But I wouldn’t have called a TO either.
-
Hah, after all the arena entrance theater, that would be appropriate.
They did show him leaving on a golf cart.
-

Saw that. Appropriate I guess (he didn't ask for any of the media attention - that I saw). In his postgame interview, he really wanted to defer any questions about himself. Kudos to him for keeping it about his players.

I don't watch much coach K. This postgame, under pressure for him, was not an embarrassment.

Agreed. I have never been a fan, but he was very gracious in the interview. Still glad he is gone though.
-

Yep. Well said.
-
Still glad he is gone though.
Same, but he did spare us from having to live through a UW title. Will always be grateful for that.
-
It’s crazy that Duke is giving the keys to their program to someone who has never coached before. Heck, that would have been Wojo if he just stayed there and didn’t expose himself as being incompetent. That said, Duke has an insane class coming in (#1, #3, #5, #13, #60, #167), so it should be interesting. Glad K went out with an L.

The Jon Scheyer hire is really funny to me because the guy is legitimately dumb, like could barely pass high school even with a bunch of tutors stupid. If he didn’t have basketball, who knows where he would be right now.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he broke a recruiting violation, not even purposely, but because he literally just did not know the rules.
-

I'll be interesting, there are certainly occasions where jocks can become good leaders. Time will tell on this one.
-
Same, but he did spare us from having to live through a UW title. Will always be grateful for that.
No kidding. Nine of the greatest minutes of college basketball ever played. Special shout-out to Grayson Allen.
-
Did anyone catch the huge illegal screen that sprung Love for the 3 pointer with 24 seconds to play? it is textbook "here is what an illegal screen is" - #1 runs into the guy who is guarding Love, hits him in the shoulder with only one foot on the floor, knocks the Duke guy back, giving Love room to make the 3. If you don't call that moving pick than there is no such thing as a pick.
-

Looks pretty legal to me on the slow motion zoom in view at the end. His feet are square and very much planted. He loses his balance when the screen hits, and that’s when his foot leaves the ground.

Why not get rid of the riffraff right away and make the invited field 32? Or 16?
-
Great game last night. I was mildly rooting for Duke for Theo and because I thought K losing in the final was the more delicious result, but it was just great entertainment.
The first game, obviously less so. Thinking Kansas will be the hot knife on Monday and Carolina will be the butter, but I've been wrong plenty this tournament.
-
Why not get rid of the riffraff right away and make the invited field 32? Or 16?
16! Ah the good old days. If it went to 16, MU would never get in, given the state of our mid major status. Would have to somehow find Al to compete in that environment. Too bad it was not that simple eh?
-
I don't watch much coach K. This postgame, under pressure for him, was not an embarrassment.
I watched the post game interview. It was good.
But did you watch this sh*t pre-game? A complete cringe worthy ego stroke, and entirely consistent with this final year. And I hope the era of the "CEO coach" goes with him.

word!
-
Wait? So that was K's last game? I wish somebody would have mentioned that.
-
82
That was one long farewell tour. I never really disliked him until the past few months, and I am very happy the tour has been concluded. One that note, I think I am happier that I will not be seeing Mrs. K a dozen times a game.
-
AMF
-
It's a good thing K had a great team this year so he could lose to 8th seed UNC twice and not walk away with an 'injured back'.
-
I wonder how many fanbases wouldn’t take Coach K or Bill Self?
The high and mighty aren’t often so high and mighty when they’re winning a lot of basketball games
-
Sorry but I have a hard time buying that K made it all about his players, that it’s not about him, that it’s so unfair that everywhere he goes people want to take us picture, etc.
The dude set up his own year long farewell tour! If you don’t want all that unfair media attention and pressure, just coach the season and walk away like a normal person would!
It was so much about the kids and not him that they didn’t even have a Senior Day and instead had pre (walk out with all his former players out there) AND post game (his own senior night and bench dedication) festivities for Coach K at their last home game.
He could’ve very easily avoided the unfairness he claims his team faced this year. He brought it all upon them.
-
Two of the biggest plays in last night's game IMHO:
1. Midway through the second half, when Banchero foolishly tried to save the ball under his defensive basket. He threw it right to Bacot, who scored and was fouled by Williams - Williams' 4th foul. With Theo also having 4 fouls, it changed the way Duke had to play.
2. With 47 seconds to go, Williams bricked 2 FTs. The teams had traded the lead on several straight possessions, but with Duke losing by 1, Williams (a 75% FT shooter) missed well long and then, predictably, barely hit the front iron. I said to my wife, "Duke's still OK as long as they don't give up a 3." 19 seconds later, Love delivered a dagger.

Yes. The Banchero play was brutal.

I'll be interesting, there are certainly occasions where jocks can become good leaders. Time will tell on this one.
I’m still a bit surprised on K anointing Scheyer as his successor - they will be good next year simply because of the talent coming in which will mask any coaching deficiencies, but I don’t think he’s going to be successful long term.

i thought duke recruiting would dip slightly with k gone. guess not. the name itself sells the best recruits. a rarely achevied status of prolonged success

It was a great game filled with clutch plays/moments. Those missed FTs by Williams were definitely a big factor in their loss, as was the Love dagger. Yet Manek also missed 3 of 4 FTs with under 5 minutes left.
I felt bad for Theo. Though perhaps his 4th fould was technically the right call, it sure seemed as though you don't call that foul. Theo played really well in his minutes. At least he got to experience a Final Four and playing meaningful minutes. What a great life experience.

That 4th foul honestly was clear as crystal. He had both arms around the guy.

If they keep it in the family, what choice did he have? Brey is close to retirement himself, Snyder is likely happy in the NBA, and Dawkins, Wojo, and Collins haven't had enough success. Amaker was probably the only option from his tree, but he has only been out of the first weekend once and that was more than 20 years ago (with Shaheen Holloway...as a player).
They went with the guy who's in house and hasn't been exposed as a coach yet. Had K left 10 years ago, it would've been Wojo. 5 years later, probably Carrawell or Nolan Smith. But I also think he comes up short of expectations. I give him 4-5 years.
-
Naming Scheyer also makes for seemless recruiting. And they weren't going outside the family for this hire, and they may not when Scheyer likely fails. (And I say this because replacing a legend rarely leads to success.) Coach K is going to hold sway over this program for awhile.

For the 2023 class, where K was still involved to some extent in the initial recruiting, most definitely. But I think moving out it’ll get tougher and tougher as the allure of playing for Duke (ie K) starts to recede.
-

pretty early still. I think, and kinda hope, the allure fades. Indiana has become completely irrelevant so it's possible for a blue blood to hibernate. We'll see how sheyer actually does without training wheels

I don’t feel bad for Theo. For a stretch of the first half of a Final Four game, he was the best player on his team. He was a big part of them getting a lead.
He got to work on his Masters at an elite university while playing basketball, and he got to the Final Four.
He gave his all for Marquette for 4 years and now did the same for Duke. And he did his small part off the court to try to make the world a better place.
I’m happy for him.

Life's a bitch, aina?

Going to the final four as a player is a bitch? I don’t think that saying applies in this instance.

I was super stoked for Theo, he was great. Yeah, he fouled four times ish, but man, he was working full intensity for more consecutive time than he probably ever has against the soon to be NCAA champions. He was quicker, thinner but still a beast, and more confident than he has ever been. He was great, I was proud he gave his heart to MU. I am not a Duke fan, but I sure am a Theo fan.

I really didn't notice much difference at all compared to how he played at Marquette.

Bacot has been getting his ankle worked on constantly since the semifinal game ended, and had this to say about playing tonight:
“No chance I’m not playing in the national championship game. My right leg would have to be cut off for me not to play.”

I have a feeling that may come back to bite Carolina. I was listening to some of the media folks that were there for the postgame interviews Satuday and they said Bacot could barely walk. He got by on adrenaline for the Duke game, but give that ankle 48 hours to swell up and it will be a completely different situation.

We'll see what Davis' Plan B is if Bacot can't get up and down the court.

If that's the case, I have no idea what they do with McCormick. No way Manek can guard him and I don't think any of their bench players can either. They could try playing five-out and make McCormick a defensive liability, but I'm not sure who on their bench other than Kerwin Walton can shoot well enough to make that plausible, but he's played all of 5 minutes in this tournament and just 15 in the last month.
I know UNC is the feel good story, but I really like Kansas in tonight's matchup.

He'll be fine, Coach K rubbed his belly.

I think you would see Puff Johnson out there because he has some size and at least is a threat from the outside.

Without Kalkbrenner, Creighton went small in their game with KU and Self ended up taking McCormack out.
-
Will Kansas exorcise their New Orleans' demons tonight?
1993 - Lost to UNC in the Final Four
2003 - Lost to Syracuse in the Championship
2012 - Lost to Kentucky in the Championship
2022 - vs UNC for the Championship

Ever since we learned that Moore would be out for Nova, I thought Kansas was the obvious pick. Relatively easy game against an undermanned opponent while UNC and Duke bludgeoned each other.
Seems even more obvious now.
Which means UNC probably wins by double-digits!
-
Prediction: Bacot is really hurt, and is going to be ineffective. He's trying to hide the pain in the warm ups, but he isn't much of an actor.

I think he's really hurting, and if they're smart he's just a decoy and will basically not play.
That said - I think it's just a sprain, and if this game were 3 days later, he'd probably be ready to go at about 80%. If it was anything worse, he wouldn't risk his career even for the theater.
-
They’ll shoot that thing up before tip
-
Both teams should lose.
But Bill Self is still there. So I guess I hope he loses.
-
I mean, technically, if UNC wins, we've lost to the champion. 8-)
-
Remy Martin's jump shot is so gross looking. Also the refs are calling it REALLY loose.
-
KU’s shot selection and offensive mindset has been something the last 8 minutes.
-
KU needs to get Abaji looks. And a lot less chucking from Martin
-
Braun’s post passes have been way too deep. Even when McCormack gets it, there’s no shooter on the baseline for him to kick it out to. Really odd plan from Self here, and it’s clearly not working.
-
I mean, technically, if UNC wins, we've lost to the champion. 8-)
Would be nice if UNC beats Kansas by like 35. Lol
-
I think he's really hurting, and if they're smart he's just a decoy and will basically not play.
Or, he'll basically have a double-double in the first half. That was my other guess.
-
Kansas offense is a disaster
-
Bacot is amazing. A poor man’s Moses.
-
Or, he'll basically have a double-double in the first half. That was my other guess.
I meant, an actual double-double. Ok, I give up.
-
Bacon is amazing.
Agreed. Makes anything taste better.
Also ...
Shaka lured the wrong big to transfer from Oklahoma.
-
KU needs to get Abaji looks. And a lot less chucking from Martin
Leaky putting the clamps on him. He hasn’t had many clean looks tongiht
-
Only halftime but...
Selfiechowski?
Or is, maybe, UNC pretty good?
-
Leaky putting the clamps on him. He hasn’t had many clean looks tongiht
Hes got Black in big time foul trouble now
Ochai cant make the freebies though
-
Only halftime but...
Selfiechowski?
Or is, maybe, UNC pretty good?
Wow, talk about some too-early excuse for Shaka backfiring.
-
Ya just knew that Kansas had to get it to half and they would make a run out of the break.
Now lets see if UNC can hit back.
-
Posting Braun up feels like it’s worked every time this half.
-
Hes got Black in big time foul trouble now
Ochai cant make the freebies though
No kidding. Agbaji so smart. Black was in his shorts all game. Just keep playing patiently assertive and draw some fouls.
-
Posting Braun up feels like it’s worked every time this half.
Yeah Raff touched on it.
Self adjusted. Stopped with the dumb Braun to McCormack deep in the post lobs with nowhere to go. And flipped it. Now McCormack is up top and Braun is getting the entries.
-
Harris and Martin couldn't have played much worse in the first half. They're playing a lot better in the second half. KU's just been more aggressive, period.
-
Wow, talk about some too-early excuse for Shaka backfiring.
Merely highlighting we got beat by a team that can play.
To call out Shaka and MU for losing to UNC was just stupid.
-
It really seems like the official plan for UNC sometimes is to drive and just throw it off the backboard and let their bigs clean up.
-
To call out Shaka and MU for losing to UNC was just stupid.
I believe the Shakahowski reference was due to losing by 32! Marquette fans should never expect that, even against good teams.
-
Love. That dude will need to reign it in if he wants to stick in the league.
But his god awful shot selection on this UNC roster are actually good shots. Cause his wild shots collapse the D and lead to easy rebounds for Manke/Bacot.
-
Can't believe KU didn't take advantage of Bacot being down on the court.
-
Well, guess cheating does pay off.
-
Love takes a 40 footer.
Really good team ball there bro.
Davis had a foul to draw and didnt do it either. Shoulda Rowsey'd him.
-
Wow.
-
Thats about as inexcusable as it gets
-
But do you foul up 3?
-
But do you foul up 3?
Good question. Love is good at jacking 'em up quick, and UNC has been rebounding great, although no Bacot now.
Yeah, I think I foul up 3 if can do it immediately on the pass.
EDIT: Or not!
Bill Self chose not to foul up 3 in the NCAA title game with a guy who had been making incredible 3s on the floor for UNC. As many of us have argued 1,000 times, it's not a no-brainer.
-

Never even discussed by the announcers.
-
Love lol
The terribly inefficient gunner from most of his college career returned.
He was Markus Love for most of the tourney. But water finds it level.
-
Manek pull a Greg and just face planted all on his own too
-
Can't stand KU. Gross.
-
f kansas f unc f duke
-
So ... Marquette ends up as the #3 team in the country. Not too bad.
-
hang a freakin banner. we lost to the runner up
-
Bummer…. Hate Kansas and all their 5 Level 1 Violations
-
Hubert drew up Winner for Manek and Love on that last possession. Broadcast didn’t mention it at all.
-
Very surprised UNC didn't slam the door.
-
I can't believe how bad those late UNC possessions were. Good grief
-

Absolutely. Guys playing hero ball.

The situation was almost identical to the Creighton game when Shaka did not foul. The only difference is that Creighton made the shot.
-
You have to foul there. Especially with Bacot out of the game.
-
I’m sorry, Agbaji may have been third or fourth on my MOP ballot.

I mean - you don't have to...

Caleb Love lost them that game. Too bad he didn’t shoot like that against Marquette

Yep.

Apparently a Hall of Fame, 2-time NCAA champion, bazillion-time Big 12 champion coach disagrees with you.
-
UNC was gassed...kids legs were dead. Emotional Duke game+playing 5.5 players all weekend, I feel is one of the only reasons to explain flat jump shots and tripping and falling all over the place. An argument could be made Garcia lost them this game.
-
Marquette gets 0.00 screen time on One Shining Moment.
I saw .01 seconds of gold in the background of a UNC clip. Any Providence that you noticed?
-
It's really dumb to compare this comeback to the 1963 Ramblers.
-
In addition to coaching his team to within a few points of a national title in his first year, Hubert Davis is just an impressive guy.
I could listen all day to him talk about basketball and his team and philosophy and life. Even his little in-game interviews are always great.
I don't know him at all, so I don't know what kind of person he is. But based on what I've seen and heard, I'd totally let my kid play for him if I were the parent of a HS star.
-
What was with UNC’s end of the floor in the second half? Bacot’s foot slips and rolls as he turns, no contact. Love’s foot slips and rolls as he turns, no contact. Manek slips like 3 times on the last out of bounds play, no contact.
Carolina’s offensive plan the second half was bad. Bacot’s strength is not one on one post ups. It’s hitting the glass hard. They needed more dribble drives from their guards and either throw it up and let Bacot go get it, or kick to Manek or the other guard on the perimeter.
-
Yep.

He could have made that shot. The result doesn't mean it was the right decision.

They shot 31% for the game and closer to 20% from distance. That shows you how big rebounding can be if you have the team to get you extra possessions.
-
An argument could be made Garcia lost them this game.
LOL. A much better argument could be made that Garcia leaving helped get the Tar Heels into the Dance and to the brink of a championship.
-
LOL. A much better argument could be made that Garcia leaving helped get the Tar Heels into the Dance and to the brink of a championship.
Agreed. Their season completely turned around when Garcia left. I can’t find the quote but Hubert Davis essentially said the same. Something along the lines of “when we decided to go with this group/rotation.” I don’t think it’s a coincidence they were a lot better once he left the team.

Given how much is paid to lousy coaches who accomplish nothing, Davis seems like a bargain.
From the Charlotte Observer:
UNC basketball coach Hubert Davis is eligible to receive an additional $575,000 in compensation following a 72-69 loss to Kansas.
His NCAA tournament bonuses break down as follows:
▪ $25,000 for participating in the NCAA tournament;
▪ $75,000 for making the second round of the NCAA tournament;
▪ $75,000 for making the Sweet 16;
▪ $200,000 for making the Elite Eight; and
▪ $200,000 for making the Final Four.
Had UNC won the national championship game, Davis would have earned an additional $250,000.
Davis earns a total of $1.8 million annually to coach at UNC. Of that, $1.05 million is paid from the school ($400,000 in base salary, $600,000 in supplemental salary and a $50,000 expense account), $500,000 is from a media partnership with Learfield sports and $250,000 comes from Nike.
Next season, Davis’ annual school pay increases to $1.15 million.

I am happy for Kansas. They were fun to watch. I hope that all the players get some extra cash as a bonus as well.
I am also glad for the message this victory sends. The NCAA is ineffective and amateurism is a sham.

Me too. Joplin behind Manek in one shot.

100%. There was a stretch in the second half where Love finally did it on 3 possessions almost in a row and they resulted in OR, foul, FT’s twice and a put back and-1 once then he never did it again. UNC completely blew that game with terrible decisions

No dirty mind here. Thought you would like to know that she has an NIL. Last time I talked to her parents there were about 2000 shirts sold at $30 a piece. Nice chunk of change for a college kid. Surprised more of the players dont have T shirt deals going on.

I actually agree with you. The more NIL deals, the better, and not even just for athletes. For example, if a theater major can land an NIL deal, that would be great. Congrats to your friend's daughter, and I think you're right about T-shirt deals being smart for any athlete (or student) who can land one.

I'm pretty sure WithoutBias wasn't saying the NIL deal is creepy, I think he was saying that it's creepy that lawdog knew her first name and that she had an NIL deal. Which with the context that lawdog added about being her neighbor is not actually creepy at all.
