Yes to Utah, no thanks to BYU. I still have my old Port O' Call membership card, great SLC institution that should never have been torn down.

Strange drinking laws though. Standing and drinking in a bar? No way Jose. Want more than 5% alcohol in a beer, gotta get a can, no decadent on tap higher alcohol beer.
But yeah, we were there last spring. Surprisingly good food, drink, nightlife options. And their aquarium is first rate too.

You’re not allowed to stand in the bars? WTF

Isn't that the whole point to go to a bar in the first place?

I think that is more for restaurants that have liquor licenses. Not really an issue at actual bars.

For instance, my first year here I was at a fine dining restaurant and we wanted to enjoy a few cocktails before dinner. They had a small bar, which happened to be full at the time so we intended to order our drinks and stand in the small area behind the bar until we were seated. No dice.

I’ll have to snag some $1 tix for a G League game soon.

And no matter your age, yes, they want to see your ID. Remember the first time I visited my son after he moved there, they carded my son, and I jokingly said , “Do you want to see mine to?” They did. They scan all of them.

They also have meters on all hard liquor bottle in bars that measure out the shots.
