Justin Lewis was waived by the Bulls.

Boone

Too bad but maybe he'll land at the Capital City affiliate closer to his Baltimore home.

First read this news on Dodds' board, where he proceeded to reply "Great to hear." Moron

To be fair, on the Dodds' board, the new news about being waived was posted in a thread starting tight the link to an article saying that Justin was finally healthy and playing with a two-way contract. The link about the waiver was just two messages below that original article. I wouldn't use that example to demonstrate that Dodds can be moronic.

The thread:

1. Oct. 8 Dodds post link to article saying Lewis is healthy.

2. Oct. 9 First response by Xpertfan "Great to hear he is recovered..."

3. Dec. 16 Second response (first response in over 2 months) by Markedman " Justin Lewis is being waived..."

4. Very next post (also Dec 16) Dodds "Great to hear."

That's sad news. Lewis should have stayed at Marquette.

If nil was what it would become maybe he would've? Can't imagine his duck nachos campaign had him making the big bucks back then. Gotta wonder if Omax (and jop) stay if Lewis is back though and how that effects us last year and subsequently this one.

MU would not have been nearly as successful on either end of the floor.

Nearly?? So what like drastically worse on offense and D? yeah gonna disagree on that.

he might have provided the rebounding we could use, but would have been a defensive liability

hard to say how shaka would have "tolerated" this kind of player he would have inherited of course.  me thinks shaka would have had to have that "talk" with justin

Justin played for Shaka.  Shaka sang his praises.   I have never heard from a reliable source that Justin had attitude issues.

Yeah, never heard about any attitude issues either. Justin was a bigger, stronger version of Joplin (though not nearly the shooter). We sure could have used him both this year and last year on the boards. Problem was lack of quickness on D and a penchant to have the ball stop when it came to him. IMO OMax was a much better fit in Shaka's system

tower912

Agreed.  But a player from a previous coach not being a perfect fit in a new system does not equal a bad attitude.   Lewis and Morsell both stopped the ball that first year.   I still appreciate what they brought.

Well if the ball stopped with Lewis,....it's totally stuck when Jop has it.....not even close.

I'm curious why anyone bothers with the Dodds board.

I guess you blacked out the entire 2021-22 season and missed Shaka "tolerating" Lewis just fine -- especially when Justin was a huge factor in numerous victories.

Indeed, Shaka benched Morsell and Kolek in games that year; how did he "tolerate" them?

Justin was a ball stopper. The offense is so good because the ball hardly sticks to anyone.

And his defense is what is keeping him from an NBA roster right now.

Talented guy. Good kid. Just not a great fit for how Shaka wants to play.

LOL Joplin was a horrible defender last year and he played ~20 mpg. I think Shaka would have tolerated Lewis's significantly better overall game just fine

Justin > Jop

No one is arguing that point. But Jop's outside shooting was huge for MU, particularly in league play and the BET. If Justin's here, he doesn't get those minutes. There was no way Shaka was taking OMax off the floor with how valuable he was on the defensive end.

I liken it to when Blankson transferred before the '03 season. He was a better player than Townsend or Novak. But those two ended up giving that team the floor spacing they needed.

Anyway, fun discussion. Hope that Justin lands in a good spot. And that we don't get called for 40 fouls tonight.
