No way it isn’t Providence on Thursday.

Actually there’s no way it WILL be Providence on Thursday.

It will be Villanova.

I think Fox misled people by showing the “if the season ended today” bracket at the end of the MU game.

That didn’t reflect the upcoming UConn-Providence game which was going to change PC’s position one way or another. If PC had won they would have moved to the 5 seed and MU would have faced St.Johns. By losing they dropped to 7 and will face Creighton.

Yep, oops. Thanks and agree, I was recalling what Fox put up at the end of the game.

We only had 7 assists against Creighton and 8 against UCONN. We had 16 against X, our average for the season. This was a key contribution to winning that game without TK.

Almost as if the team continued to work without TK and began to figure it out.

And, Xavier is not UConn or Creighton.

One of my daughters who is an MU grad and fanatic, and who follows college basketball pretty closely, did the same thing. She sent me a text saying “Now Marquette has to play stupid Providence”. We don’t have good feelings about them after their “aggressive” (some might say dirty) play in the game last week.

MU seemed to score on every possession to close the show today.  Under the circumstances that was pretty damn impressive.

They only missed 3 shots in the final 12 plus minutes

Kam had 9 which bodes well for next season if he sticks around.

chase does seem to get in foul trouble, but given the quality of the refs today, there should be an asterisk for this game

I said that as soon as it flashed up. Turned to my wife and said "the season does end today, but pretty much none of those spots are actually set yet because half the teams have yet to play."

Finally watching the game.   All of the Joplin frustration.... he looked to me like he  is sick.  Like, perhaps the virus got him a little bit.

Maybe so. Is there any player on any team that never has a bad game? I'm not challenging your virus theory-just pointing out that Scoopers, like other bball fans, waste no time in coming down on a player.

I support every scoopers right to mourn victory in any matter they so choose.

He looked sick and listless to me.   I celebrate your right to disagree.

Other than his bad play you’re basing that on what?

Energy level.   Many teammates having recently gone through it a virus that sapped their energy.   No inside knowledge.   It just looked obvious to me.

Related, Ben Gold getting 27 minutes was great and I am more confident than ever he will be fine as a starting 5.

Love how no one provides actual stats to Vipers question yet if you question BG it’s a low effort troll. Going from Oso to BG is going to be a drastic drop off in D

Where was Oso as a sophomore compared to Ben now?    No guarantees, but I feel better about Ben now than I did about Oso two years ago.

Ben Gold lost all summer last year due to injury.  He’ll have this entire summer to work on strength and conditioning and his game

Ben Gold’s offensive rating in conference games is 113.5, defensive rebounding % is 15.1, block % is 3.4, fouls committed is 3.9%

Oso’s sophomore year was 129.3, 10.0, 5.6 % and 4.2 %

Gold is far ahead of Oso after year two. He has more tools and it is up to him and the coaching staff to push him to get better.
