Some people have emailed me today already on this...yes, DIRECTV has it.  It's part of Sports Pack which is at the most $12 per month (less if you have other premiums like HBO, Showtime, Starz or Cinemax).  It can be as low as $9 a month.

And yes, you can subscribe from November to March and cancel or any other iteration if you choose.

Great news for alums living throughout the US to have a chance to see our boys play....many MU games were on SNY last year so it bodes well again for this year.

My only pet peeve is will the games in November and December and early January be in HD or do we have to wait for the popularity contest known as college football to end before the college basketball games are in HD like last year? Will ESPNU be in HD on DirecTV ths year?

What does this mean for basketball on ESPN?  The article says that football games will still be in ESPN, but doesn't say whether basketball will be.  Please tell me there will still be lots of BE basketball on ESPN.

THe Big East still has their contract with ESPN.  ESPN will still get first dibs.  SNY will get the leftovers..but it's a lot of leftovers.  my question is does this mean MASN on the East coast will no longer be showing games?  They had EVERY conference marquette game last year that wasn't on national tv.

The picture quality on SNY was better than ESPN Fullcourt last year even in standard definition. I imagine you will need fullcourt for most non-conference games?

kinda.  full court and 360 games are not really espn games per se.  they usually pick up the feeds from local channels and show them on full court and 360.  any game on full court last year was also on MASN on the east coast.

That is great even though I paid for full court last year i rarely used it beciase the picture suckked so bad so i woulld channel over and watch the great SNY picture!!

Well, for those of us who don't have Direct TV maybe there is.

I don't get FullCourt because my job requires a lot of Wednesday and Saturday work, which would be the primary days to have it. I get the SportsPack for many reasons, Mike and the Mad Dog, All Bets Are Off, TVG, etc., but every MU game of significance I wanted to watch last year (all conference games and significant non-conference games) that wouldn't have been available on basic cable were available with SportsPack, other than the UConn game.

Also, for cheap-asses like me (I just dropped dish, and just get my HDTV over the air now), remember you can get ESPN full court streaming online for about $75 for the whole year.  Hell, that's only slightly more than one month of dish bills

Of course, I've already got a media center PC hooked up to my TV, but still a decent option for those with a high speed connection.

One other thing I read recently, is that college campuses and military bases (.edu and .mil domains) will be able to stream ESPN360 this year.  Here's the news on that.  Not applicable for me - but others here might be able to take advantage of it.

Satellite can be as cheap at $29.99 a month.  Cable (lifeline cable) can be even cheaper.  Cable typically doesn't offer out of market regional sports networks (i.e. RSNs) like satellite and cable do.

I can't speak for DISH, but DIRECTV you could get $29.99 a month Family plan on one tv and then subscribe to Sports Pack at an additional $12 a month during the basketball season.  No HD, no DVR, just plain Jane service.

This is great to hear.  Most of the Marquette games that were not on ESPN, were on SNY.  This past season I was able to pretty much watch the Big East portion of the schedule from my home.

Scheduled to go live 1/1/09, though they're having their problems.  They wanted to put HQ in Harlem and that went into the toilet.  Now they're still in Jersey.  My day to day MLB contact for the last 8 years just quit MLB to go work for the MLB Network.  They're still shooting for 1/1/09.  Will be part of the base package on Directv (Directv is a partial owner of MLB Network).

Not that I've seen.  I'm still waiting for a ESPN Full Court schedule as well.
