Good find.  Even if McMorrow turns into nothing more than a shot-blocker, I think it was a good use of the scholly.  An athletic seven footer with potential is almost always worth the risk.

Tulsa Warrior

I've seen Jerome Jordan since he arrived on the TU campus.  He could help the Golden Hurricane make a run in the NCAA.  He has the potential to be a first round NBA draft pick.  Here's hoping Marquette gets as lucky with Liam or Chris.  FYI, both of Marquette's post players have more beef already.

I dunno if that's the right reason.

I think I found the REAL REASONS why Buzz recruited McMorrow.

Reason #1: Aggressiveness runs in his blood.

Reason #2: McMorrows don't wait for the ref to blow the whistle.

Reason #3: McMorrows know how to dominate.

Reason #4: As if there needed to be any more reasons! ;)

Oh hell yeah...that's a BE center if I've ever seen one!   :D

While this McMorrow is sweet, the titles say Sean McMorrow, not Liam McMorrow

I hope you forgot to put the teal on...because that I know hence the "aggressiveness runs in his blood" (read: just like his brother).
and the "McMorrows."

Lets face it... having a 7' player on your team never hurts... Hibbert was known as the Big Stiff by the great John Thompson... a couple years down the line, he became quite the player... if McMurrow turns into half the player Hibbert was, it will be a good recruit.

pure genius stuff by Bill Simmons, remember to read day 2

Murffieus

Well I would hope McMorrow wsn't recruited because he's 7 foot tall-----I would hope that Buzz sees some unusual potential in the guy!

ecompt

Being 7-feet certainly didn't hurt, Murff; I don't think Buzz would have signed the kid if he were 6-2. But it never hurts to have someoine that big, even if he can't do much other than look tall.

It doesn't have to be unusual potential.  Regular potential would be just fine if he can fulfill some of it.

"You can't teach size." I have no problem with MU taking a flyer on a kid who is willing to work hard on the court and in the classroom. If that kid never develops, but plays and studies hard, then that's OK.

I think you just described Rod Gross.

If I remember right, Rod Gross was a Micky D's All American his senior year of high school...

Not even close.

MU has only had three McD's All Americans:  Doc Rivers, Kerry Trotter, Walter Downing.

PJDunn

And really only Doc and Kerry count since Walter was a transfer.  Interesting that o'l Hank Raymonds recruited our only two McDonalds AAs.

Rod Grosse was not a strong player. Most bigmen are not good, because they are slow footed or do not have strength. From everything I hear McMorrow is agile and has a very strong body. He only lacks experience. Why he may never develope, his upside is hugh.

Raymonds was just starting to recruit when he turned the team over to Majerus. Rivers, Trotter, Mandy Johnson, Dwayne Johnson, Walter Downing, Oliver Lee and the big over weight center Majerus ran off were all top 30 high school players going into their senior year of high school according to  Street and Smith's Basketball magazine. He also recruited Sam Worthen, Michael Wilson, Dean Marquardt, Marc Marotta, Odel Ball, etc. Raymonds was hurt in the early years, by back to back poor recruiting year's. McGuire's last year he signed only Robert Byrd who was a better than average player and then Raymonds signed Oliver Lee, Larry Hutchins and Tony Davis. Davis and Hutchins were terrible. Their freshmen year they were put in late in a game and the two of them turned the ball over about three times in 30 seconds. They barely played the rest of their careers. After that Raymonds recruiting was fairly solid.

Interesting that Rick couldnt do much with that group.
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

Ah, yes.  Lloyd "Nachos" Moore was the overweight center.  Huge torso, skinny legs and a soft touch from 10-12 feet.
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.
