I know it is too early, but i am very bored right now. With the plethora of forwards, and question marks at center, what will be our starting lineup in 2009?

I'm going out on a limb and saying.

1 buycks... i think he could be better than junior, and he called himself a point
2 Lazar
3 Williams... or fulce(if as good as advertised so far)
4 maymon
5 mcmorrow

this lineup is much taller and longer than our current one

that leaves butler, otule, and mbawke as potential starters

🏀

To start the season:
Acker
Cubillian
Hayward
Fulce
Mbakwe

By the end:
Acker
Buycks
Hayward
Mbakwe
Maymon

No way Junior outplays Acker and Cubillian in the first year.

1990Warrior

1. Junior
2. E Williams
3.Lazar
4. Maymon
5. Mbakwe.

Let our talented Frosh play and learn for the future.

That lineup might really piss off some important players like Acker, Cubillan, Butler, Fulce, and Otule.

I'm going to wait and see what these guys bring this season before I think about whether it should be a "freshmen to the fire" season in 09-10.

If acker is our starter for all of the season we will struggle to make the final 64.

Early
1. Acker
2. Lazar
3. Fluce
4. Mbakwe
5. Liam

Later
1. Buycks
2. Lazar
3. Fluce
4. Maymon
5. Mbakwe

Very early but..

1. Acker - I think at this point he will be our most proven shooter and reliable PG
2. Fulce - I think he'll earn this spot through his production in 2008
3. Hayward - obvious, I think this year will be interesting.  He will probably be a really aggressive offensive player and we will see a more creative side to his game.
4. Mbakwe - From the little that I saw, he looked like a 4.
5. Marrow - From what I read, it seems that he is more athletic than Otule and I think this factor will win him the spot.

Its a really tough call at this point but I HOPE it will be easy by the end of the season.
As I get on my soapbox again, this is a critical year.  Hopefully Hayward can rally the team together and get us in the tourney (which is all I hope for that year).  I think once our 09 class gets a year under them, we will be back on more stable ground.  Plus, I anctipate that an elite 8 or better 08 season will produce a stellar 10 class.

G Junior Cadugon (give the reins to the freshman, gain some experience)
G Lazar Hayward (They can go big and have him play here. Plus He'll have to show NBA scouts that he can play the two to make it at the next level)
F Joseph Fulce (IF he is the second coming of Marion like many of the MU ballers say he is then my guess is he plays here but guards the best scorer on the other team
F Trevor Mbakwe (He will show that he is th athletic rebounder and post scorer that MU needs THIS YEAR)
F Jeronne Maymon (By the looks of the weight he is putting on he will be able to play other big forwards right away.

You don't need centers to compete and they'll give Otule and McMorrow plenty of time to develop before they put them in the starting lineup ala Hibbert and Gray

Interesting take on this...I like it because it's a very long very athletic lineup.  I'd probably like to see Erik Williams maybe in there for Fulce but if Fulce is what I hear he is then I couldn't argue with this lineup.

PG - Cadougan (I'm a big Mo Acker fan but he just doesn't have the length to be starting PG in the Big East - his senior leadership will still be needed, however, and he'll see important minutes. Quandary for me is Dwight Buycks - by his admission, he's a point guard and a very athletic one at that. Would not be surprised to see him start here with Cadougan and Acker sharing back-up responsibilities depending on matchup)
2G - Williams (tempted to go with Butler but my gut tells me that Williams is a special player)
Small forward - Hayward (no brainer - will need his 3 pt shooting and leadership)
Strong forward - Maymon (starts his career but will move over to small forward the following year)
Post - Mbakwe (Otule and McMorrow not ready yet. I see Mbakwe sliding to the strong forward spot, his natural position, the following year with Otule and McMorrow fighting it out for starting spot at post)
6th man - Fulce (can play three spots, athletic, hearing nothing but good things about him - not be surprised if he ends up with second most minutes)

Of course, all of the above comes without having seen any of the new guys.

I don't think outplaying Cubillan is that difficult at all.  I can definitely see this kind of lineup:

PG: Acker/Junior/Cubillan
SG: Hayward/Butler
SF:Williams/Fulce/
PF: Maymon/Otule
F/C: Mbakwe/McMorrow/Otule

Seeing as though most are going with Cadougan, Buycks, or Williams I'm curious to see the reaction that will cause if it happens.

Our previous coach was nearly burned in effigy for tossing aside a Senior and hardworking "program player" so he could start a Freshman almost three years ago in November 2005.
