Father, son chosen to marshal village's Fourth of July parade
By MARY BUCKLEY

A well-known father-son duo will lead the parade as Brown Deer celebrates the Fourth of July.

Mike and Steve Novak will share the role of grand marshal as the village celebrates 35 Years of Family, Fun and Fireworks, the official theme for this year's celebration.

"What better tie-in with 35 years of family and fun than Mike and Steve Novak," Fourth of July Committee Chairwoman Barb Fleming said. "They represent a Brown Deer family that has been active and been good ambassadors for Brown Deer."

Mike, the longtime basketball coach and athletic director at Brown Deer High School, and son Steve, who plays for the National Basketball Association's Houston Rockets, are familiar faces in the community and about the country.
