Summerfest!

Best fest? Tribune gives Summerfest nod

It's an age-old debate, which fest is best? Our own Big Gig or the Taste of Chicago.

In recent days, both daily newspapers in Chicago gave the nod to Summerfest. First, it was the Sun-Times, which gave our fest the edge. Today, the Chicago Tribune sizes up the fests (well, at least their lineups for this weekend), and declared: "Summerfest, with its diverse lineup, is the best over the weekend, but the Taste ain't shabby."

Two different fests, I don't think they are very comparable.

On a side note: How terrible is the Summerfest lineups this year? A lot of garbage.

I have to agree with PTM here.  One fest is to showcase music.  Another fest is to showcase the amazing food you can buy in Chicago.  Apples to Oranges

I agree there is no comparing thw two. A better question might be if you had one day/night and could only go to one or the other, which would you choose? Gotta believe Summerfest would win by an extremely wide margin (even though I'm sure many from Chicago may not admit it.)

No, I would admit summerfest because of its entertainment value.  You don't go to Taste of Chicago while it has entertainment is more for good food!

Yeah, I may only go on the 4th of July.  The Roots show should be awesome.

it is pretty bland when it comes to the lineup.. too many similar acts for my liking... I am going to see Keller Williams, and that is about it, pretty bad considering I usually have 3-4 shows I want to see

thank goodness I am going to the Pitchfork Music Festival three weeks from now... fill my concert going for a while.
