Hey, you're near 1,000 posts!!!

Anyways...

"He measured out at 6-7 and 238 pounds within the last two weeks, and also boasts an impressive 7-6 wing span to go along with an estimated 36-inch vertical leap."

WTF?!?  :o

EDIT:

I was thinking AFTER I posted the above, "Who, in the NBA, is 6'7" and 238?"

Well, here are some options:

NBA Likeness #1

NBA Likeness #2

NBA Likeness #3

NBA Likeness #4 Eww

NBA Likeness #5

NBA Likeness #6

NBA Likeness #7 "The Dream"

And I was thinking..."Who has a 7'6" wingspan in the NBA?"

Player (Height) = Wingspan
Wade (6'4") = 6'11"
Roy (6'5") = 6'8"
MJ (6'6") = 7'0"
LeBron (6'8") = 7'0"
TMac (6'8") = 7'4"
Yao (7'6") = 7'5"
Durant (6'9") = 7'4"
Bynum (7'0") = 7'6"

Key was big like a round mound 6'8" 275lbs.  This kid is big as in L O O O N N G G G.  Very long.  He's definitely a physical specimen.

ATWizJr

may be the inside presence we need!

madtownwarrior

Murf says he is only 6'5' and I see that Murf has Johnny Lacy shrinking an inch in recent posts as well...

RawdogDX

everything i've seen has him growing not shrinking.

Ready2Fly

I admit, I was f'in FLOORED when I saw the 7'6" wingspan.  If it wasn't just a typo, that adds 3+ inches to his height.  Add in a 36 inch vertical, and this kid is gonna be a monster on the glass.

That's exactly what I was thinking. 7'6" wingspan?!?! Are you kidding me?!  I'm excited to see first hand what this kid can do!

I hope those figures are indeed accurate.  Certainly a MUCH better vertical than Damon Key - Kevin O. said Damon's vertical was the Milwaukee telephone book.   ;D
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

Mayor McCheese

his wingspan is bigger than Yao's... thats ridiculous.  Numbers are numbers, hopefully he comes in and fills a need we have been looking for for quite sometime.

Ok - 7'6" wingspan is giving me too many unpleasant images.

275?  Damon was probably over that by the time he was admitted...and sadly he hasn't seen 275 since his playing days ended.  That guy could eat.

Can we forget wingspan?  That's a TC marketing tool to explain recruiting kids with no basketball resume.  We just got a verbal from a Mr Basketball as a junior, a kid who averaged 30 & 15 in the state tourney.  He has produced at the highest levels, lets forget wingspan and just revel in the fact we actually recruited a basketball player!

Revel?  This is how we revel.  We talk about wingspan and any other impressive feature about a recruit as if they were best buy gadgets.

What did you expect a bunch of post that look like:

;D Yes! *FISTPUMP* YES!!  ;D

This isn't Trend Blackledge, lets talk box scores instead of measurements.

I cannot tell you how excited I am to see us get a guy who almost single handedly willed his team to a state title.  33 points, 17 boards and 3 blocks vs Tosa East in the finals.  He's a bad man.

We got a big man who can play basketball...who cares about his wingspan, his vert leap etc.  He has post moves, foot work, great hands etc.  Wingspan and the like are for NBA / NFL GMs who are choosing between 100 similar phenomenal athletes or for over-paid marketing execs coaches who need to justify drunken April shopping sprees.

Hell with that wingspan he might be able to take advantage of the Bernoulli Effect!

Being one myself, I like them, but in their place of course.

Call me old fashioned but coaches should coach not shill for Karate studios or control crowd noise during games

i judge coaches based on the wingspan of the players they recruit.

i think that alternating in a fun practice early on isn't a bad idea.  It has been commonly used by pro teams for a long time, boxing, wrestling, martial arts and even ballet.

How does it go?

ACAT?

Why are you referencing the former coach?

He has NOTHING to do with this recruit.

As far as talking about wingspan, it's not just a "marketing tool"... it does give us an idea of the physical tools Maymon has. Scott C. had great numbers in high school, but I don't think he will have the impact that Maymon will have.

Why do I believe that? Because Maymon is much more physically gifted... which includes things like wingspan, height, vertical, etc.

Not being a physicist, I've always wondered; if the Bernoulli effect is to be accepted, explain how planes fly upside down w/o crashing...?
