It's interesting to note the over 40 spot disparity between Scout's and Rival's ranking of Jamil Wilson.

Maymon. Lacy, Wilson and Williams would do wonders to get us all on the Buzz train ;D

There's more guys linked to MU than that, unfortunately Scout doesn't always update the lists.  Just taking a quick look, these guys have also mentioned MU recently:

#63 Mfon Udofia, PG
#66 Michael Dixon, PG
#81 Richard Howell, PF
#100 Darius Morris, PG

It would also leave MU without a true PG after DJ leaves and give MU 3 guys in one class and 6 overall to play 2 positions.

I'm all for getting talented players, but you have to look at the bigger picture.  Of all the guards in the top 100 that MU is recruiting, Lacy is the farthest from being a true PG.  Guys like Dixon, Bledsoe, Morris etc are true PG's that would be ready to play the position from day 1.  Lacy would not.

And adding Wilson and Maymon to Williams would just create problems.  None of them are going to be able to play the 2, and none of them are big enough to play the 5.   So you'd have 3 guys in the same class that have to play either the 3 or the 4, along with Hayward, Fulce, and maybe Butler.  No matter how talented they are, that kind of log jam just doesn't work.

I agree with bma725 and at some point, I would expect that Buzz and the boys will bring in a legit "big" or two.  6'6" post players won't get MU too far in the Big East.

It's all subjective.

Also interesting to note that Erik Williams fell nearly 40 spots in Scout's rankings in the past 6 weeks.

That's what happens when you don't play due to injury.  Of course it was also strange when he rose from outside the top 75 to in the 40s despite not having played for weeks.

It also happens when you don't commit to a UCLA, Duke, Kentucky, etc.  Plenty of MU kids over the years saw their rankings drop once they verballed to MU, while kids climbed in services that committed to some old, blue dog programs.  Just part of the subjective process when rating these guys....bonus points for certain programs.

Which is why the elite programs always seem to disappoint (on a relative scale).  For instance, UNC has Hansborough coming back and THREE McDonald's AA coming in.  They should win the championship in an udefeated season next year.  Fact is they are not even the top rated team.  That goes to Pitt who has players that are near the same rankings as MU.  Look at Duke, with the quality of their recruits, they should never be rated lower than 5th.

Point is Chico is correct.  If Erik Williams took back his verbal to MU and verballed to UNC, scout would instantly move him to a top 20 player.

Yeah, I think the truth, at this particular moment is closer to Rival's rating.  Wilson hasn't dominated the AAU games he's played this year, which would be expected out of a top 25 talent.
