So as soom of you may have heard West Virginia '09 commit Keith Dewitt pulled out of his verbal today and expressed intrest in some schools including Marquette and Nebraska (where we got one of our assistant coaches from). Here is a little information to get us started.

Name:  Keith DeWitt
Class:  2009
Position:  Power Forward
Height:  6′10
Weight:  225
School:  Charis Prep NC
AAU Team: CP3 All-Stars
Other Schools: Marquette, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, West Virginia
Commitment:  None

Scout ranks him as a 3 star and states Athleticism, Competitiveness, and Upside/Potential as his stregnths. Rivals did not rank him at all.

My final judgement is that while its always nice to have as many 6'10 bodies on the team as possible, maybe this guy isn't worth the spot just yet. As mentioned he is 21 so I think this may fall under the wait and see catagory

I agree on wait and see. I do think his age actually might work in his favor in college though. Being 22 or 23 and playing against 18 and 19 year olds is huge advantage. Obviously this is a flier but I would not mind seeing us get an athletic 6-10" guy.

If memory serves me we had a guy I think in the 80's that was old college kid. His name is escaping me and I might be wrong on this. I do not think he had stellar career at MU and might have been short lived.

6'10  guys are always good but we need someone who actually has presence down lown and stregnth isn't something as ambiguous as competitiveness

Hmmm, you might be thinking of Anthony Candelino- came to us after his (short-lived) stint in MLB.  He was a guard, drove some of his teammates to games in his Coupe de Ville, had a lot of fire- always first off the bench ready to rumble whenever there was a scuffle, but, alas, not a great player.

What's the deal with his age? He is coming in as a freshman?

augo---you had to bring up AC? I still think to this day that KO rigged up the track and caused AC's tumble (just kidding, of course). The player I am thinking about was during Dukiet era and I think a local kid. Big, muscular kid. Possibly he played for KO, but not sure.

sorry if I went off track, Gym, but dunno whom you are thinking of...

chris weinke anyone?

If he's anything like Weinke, he'll be serviceable to MU.

Just not in the NBA. ;)

McIlvaine is the one who fell off the track, I think.

Unless the Wiki is wrong (and I don't think it is), Candelino is the guy who fell from the track.

The Wiki is not wrong. It was absolutely 100 percent positively Candelino. He claimed to have been "sweating out" a flu bug.

Also, he did not play major league baseball. He was in somebody's farm system, but never advanced.

true enough, Harvey's, but I just meant he came to us from baseball.
