So is anyone withholding information on the recruiting trail? Two of my friends are both going to IU next year and I'm constantly hearing the updates about how Crean keeps grabbing guys. My question is, what has Buzz done since getting the job? Not meaning he hasn't done anything, I'm just not sure what he has done outside of what we know for sure: players back, O'tule and Fulce, signing of Jimmy Butler. Anyone have anything?

There are no updates for a reason.  Buzz plays things close to the vest.  You may not even hear MU mentioned with a kid before the kid actually verbals.  With Crean it wasn't like that at all.  He made a spectacle of himself on the recruiting trail and wanted people to know who he was going after.  Buzz just won't do that, so there won't be as much news unless one of the kids talks about it himself.

How do you know Buzz does that? I'm not asking to be a d!ck, but seriously. He hasn't been around long enough to build a track record. Did he supposedly have this record in the past (playing things tight)? And if he did, wouldn't other sources hear of MUs interest?

Keep in mind too, that Crean's all over the place because he needs players now. He has nobody there. We have one scholarship and may be banking it.

MuMark

Crean had about 25 scholarships to fill and has a solid track record as a head coach to sell along with its Indiana....its Indiana.

Buzz will be fine.

The 2 situations are not really comparable.

Mark Miller talked about it awhile back.

And if you look at the articles coming out recently it really shouldn't surprise anyone.  He hasn't really talked about what his goals are with the last scholarship or with the class for next year, neither have the assistants.  The only new information is the when a player mentions that MU was watching him, or MU was in attendance etc.  And even then, there's no specific mention of Buzz, or even a specific mention of any particular assistant.  It's just a generic "Marquette as been calling".   In fact, out of all the articles that have come out since he took over, how many times has Buzz's name come up when talking about recruits?  Maybe 3 or 4...and that seems to be only the Wisconsin kids in Mark Miller's articles.

Besides, how many of these recent guys had people out there actually heard of before we found out Buzz extended an offer?  It seems there would be one article where you would find out MU had interest, and then the next one would update it to MU extending an offer.  If you followed Crean's recruiting closely, it was never like that.  He'd follow a guy for months before extending an offer, and all the reports were always about him.

We know he wasn't in EauClaire watching Anderson.

Exactly, think back to when Fulce signed.  We never heard of the guy, Shumpert said he was going to GT and then *bam* everyone was asking 'Who is Joseph Fulce?'.

Also worth noting, is that Buzz may not make things public, but this interview with DJ seems to indicate that he shares everything with the team.

Though I like that he keeps things close to his vest, it drives me NUTS!

After the Maurice Creek post, who should I start a thread for?
Anyone know one-star recruits? ;)

For those of you starved for information, Mark Miller had this to say about Kyle Kelm.  The link summarizes the results of the Wisconsin State AAU Tournament that occurred over the weekend.

Kyle Kelm, 6-9, PF, Randolph (Wisconsin Swing)
Kelm continues to show why he is a high-major NCAA Division I prospect as he knocked down three-point shots and scored in the lane en route to 16 points in the title game. Kelm's stock continues to soar as coaches from Marquette, Iowa, Minnesota, Purdue and Virginia Tech have called within the last 10 days. Kelm is a difficult matchup because of his size and ability to score facing the basket, especially from three-point range. He has added some weight and strength and is now more willing to go inside and play with his back-to-the-basket, though that aspect of his game is still developing.

I'll drive by the AL tomorrow and throw a potted plant at it.  Will that make you feel better?

kyle kelm sorta looks like jim halpert from the office.

MU Chi_IL

what is the scoop with Flavien Davis in 2010, do we have a shot at him?

muhoops1

Right now it appears that MU and Baylor have made him an offer.  However, that was prior to Crean's departure.  I know Georgetown, Pitt, UW and AZ have shown some interest, but no offers.
