........saying?

With all the turmoil that has occurred in TC's first 5 weeks, players suspended, players transferring, players leaving for the league, are they as critical of TC and wondering aloud about the wisdom of this hire as some of our posters are, or is it still the honeymoon period?

Anybody got an IU board address?

MUDPT

Google peegs.

I had to laugh today when I saw the paper about Crean's latest complaints. Holman is transferring to Detroit with McCallum (Indiana's old assistant). Crean thought that Holman was transferring somewhere closer to California, his home, to be closer to home.  Crean was not happy about it.  But he was happy about landing Nick Williams and calling Williams and all of other recruits.

They're thrilled....I keep telling you guys and you're not listening.  IU wants to win a certain way, cheating is not in their DNA.  First and foremost they want to blow out Sampson and everything about him, which Crean has done.  Next, they want to get back to winning...they'll allow that in a few years, but he's got some good kids going there now and is in on some INCREDIBLE kids in the next two classes.  IU fans, at least from what I can tell, are thrilled right now.

Should Izzo jump to the NBA right now or retire?

True, I believe they are relieved and optimistic.

But, they have some of the same concerns as we always had about running a 3 or 4 guard set and with TC's checkered history in recruiting bigs.

Many of them do acknowledge that the BE is a brutal conference and far tougher than the B10.  I'd say they are in watch and wait posture and also seem concerned about the way schollies are flying off their shelves, the quantity vs, quality argument.

For myself, I really don't care but was curious as to how they were reacting to their new "savior" and they don't seem that different from us.

Izzo should figure out how to beat Bo Ryan, something Crean figured out 3 out of 7 times going 3-4.

Izzo should stay where he is, stop crying after losses to Bucky and figure out how to when a conference title again.

I have no doubt that MSU will own IU for a good number of years....I also have no doubt that IU is going to be just fine after this coming year, which will be awful.  A lot of people are going to be very disappointed with IU after next year so I think they better enjoy the destruction as much as possible in the next 365 days.

He had a tough time recruiting bigs to Marquette....he will have no such difficulty at IU.

They were thrilled with Sampson also.

No, they (we) were not.  The IU fan base has been split for more then a decade.  Many hated Knight, many loved Knight.  Many hated Davis, a few were happy with him.

Many were very troubled by Sampson's hire, it was not an "IU hire" on so many levels, and yes many were happy.

IU has been in disarray for a long time....I can't remember this much peace among the IU alums, I include myself in that.

Schoolyard

Chicos is right.  IU fans care about winning right first and foremost.  They will give TC a long leash.  They're not UK fans (who didn't care that Billy the Kid was a HUGE lush but rather that Billy the Kid won less games in Decemeber than the Raiders).

I don't think TC will run into trouble until years 4 or 5...once his players are firmly in place, his CBE titles and 1st weekend bow-outs won't seem so cool.

As much as I want Crean to fail, I am fairly confident he will enjoy success at IU in a manner which he could not reach at MU. Don't worry about IU and the first round bow outs. Crean will recruit better and in turn, will get better results.

Crean was a great get for IU and just the right guy for the job. IU was the right job for Crean, too. The Knight legacy is history. The program has hit near rock bottom. Crean will be deemed a savior, as he was at MU. The only difference is that once the IU train gets rolling again, its top speed will likely be much higher than MU's. Or, at the least, its acceleration to top speed will be a lot quicker than at MU.

This rock bottom stuff has been over blown...they were Top 10 this year and played for the Nat'l title in 2002.
