I recognize the problems with sites like Rivals and Scout, but the names and prospects on those sites seem to be unchanged since TC left?  While I'm sure we will still be targeting those players, I would have thought that some of the new assistants would have existing relationships that would add some new names.  Aside from Morrow (committed to ECU) and Ward (undecided?) I haven't really heard any names that weren't already on the lists.

I know the spring isn't a huge signing period relative to the fall, but wouldn't have been disappointed to get one more 09 commit before the summer.

If anyone has any new names I'd love to hear them.

most of the decisions wont be made until sometime next fall. Think about it. Why would a decent prospect even think of coming here in '09 with having no idea about Buzz's coaching ability. Once they see him take out a Tennessee and Wisconsin then you'll see the recruits rolling in. To see who i think they need to focus on check out my post Thoughts on Buzz's Recruiting

Interesting idea ... does MU front load its early season non-conference schedule in a gamble that Buzz wins a few big games and creates a "Buzz" (sorry for the pun) about committing to MU before the signing deadline?

Of course, if MU gets blown out in these games, it could backfire.

Thoughts?

i think scheduling another top 25 team is not out of the question. Realistically Marquette has had a history of having weak nonconference schedules so I wouldn't bet on it but it would be good for recruiting sake.

Personally I would love for us to play Georgia Tech next year to destroy Iman Shumpert (remember him) but that wouldn't help rpi at all down the road.

Teams that would actually help us face decent competition are probably a team like arizona, oklahoma, or boston college, teams from different conferences that are big named schools with decent teams

There's been some new names mentioned in 2009 and 2010, they just haven't updated the lists on Scout or Rivals yet.  But a lot of kids from recent AAU tournaments have talked about how MU is now watching them.  There don't seem to be many new names in 2008.

Here's just a few that weren't mentioned before Crean left, though it's possible MU was involved and it just didn't make the sites.

Michael Dixon 6'0 PG from Missouri http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=8&c=1&nid=2436978
Matthew Staff 6'8 PF from Texas  http://newmexico.scout.com/a.z?s=203&p=9&c=2&cid=752161&nid=3638031&fhn=1
Trevor Williams 6'11 Center from Colorado http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p=8&c=1&nid=3697454
Eric Bledsoe 6'0 PG from Alabama http://marquette.scout.com/a.z?s=415&p=8&c=1&nid=3654070
Andre Marhold 6'6 Forward from NC http://marquette.scout.com/a.z?s=415&p=8&c=1&nid=3060191

Reading the reports about AAU tournaments on Scout, they usually mention the teams that were watching a player or a player himself says he's hearing from the school.

Yet another Williams!  How many can you have on one team?

Seriously, this kid was being recruited by Nebraska (Tony Benford) and is from Coloardo (Layer).  Why do I have a feeling that their is more here than meets the eye with MU?

Would you like him?

P.S. Tony Bennett at WSU is also recruiting him.

Strokin 3s

My only question is, "Is that 6 feet 11.5 inches with the fro or 6 feet 6 inches without?"
