Exactly!! The whole thing is almost bizarre on several different levels. I still can't believe it.

When I first posted on here I tried to stage my protest and largely due to the economic side of this hire. The school benefits so much from a successful ball team. I am paying $34k for my son this year and this is with the extra money generated by the bball team.

Money makes the school survive. In today's economic cycle the school cannot risk any lose of revenue. If Buzz proves to be a mistake they will need to get the heavy hitters to really pony up.

Just playing Devil's Advocate, but has anyone considered that maybe, just maybe MU knows what they were doing in hiring Buzz?

I'm just asking.
We Are Marquette

Again....this is an administration that thought "Gold" was the key to more 'gold'. Let's hope Buzz proves us all wrong.

(and again...for those that incessantly say we are whining...we are not. We are questioning MU's decision to take such a risk with an unproven commodity.)

Clearly the basketball program is good for the entire university - and this article deetails the extent of that.  It's something that is obvious, and not substantiated in general.  Yep - playing int he Big East and doing well, brings more kids from the East Coast to Marquette.  Advancing in the tourney, getting lots of natioanl exposure is great for enrollment, donations etc.  Yes it is.

I am certain the Marquette administration would like to continue along these lines, and used their best juedgmment (albeit it can be questioned) to choose Buzz.  The risk has already been taken - they hired Buzz.  So . . . now what?  Let's see how he does.  It is fruitless to question the decision at this point unless, like working an official, we think it will help the next call.

From what I hear most of the BOT was not involved, it could be said they were even in the dark.
My handle is Schoolyard but I do my best work at Finley Dunnes...Joe Kenny in '08

Well then they weren't doing their jobs properly since the BOT passed the resolution.  Do we have a rubber stamping BOT?

We always have.  Decisions at MU have always been based on what the Jesuits want to do, the BOT is just for appearance sake.
