Barone and assistants
« on: April 16, 2008, 11:15:29 PM »
I've seen rumors that Brian Barone is going to IU with Crean but havent seen anything confirmed.  I know he was Director of Video Ops or something this year.  I know he missed recruiting which is something he did at IL State.  I thought that maybe he had a chance to be an actual assistant with Buzz but maybe not...  I figured he was the last person who would be going to IU with Crean, but then again, his wife is from Indiana, so maybe that had something to do with him wanting to go there.  Has anyone seen anything official on who Crean took to IU or who Buzz is hiring for his assistants?

IU hasn't announced it yet, but Barone left MU today to join Crean's staff at IU.  He could have stayed at MU if he wanted, but his goal is to be a head coach someday, and sticking with Crean gives him a better chance at that.  Seltzer and Buckley are there too, Rab is not going, but he's not going to be at MU either.

With the Butler announcement, there will probably be an announcement of Scott Monarch, an assistant at Tyler JC who worked for Buzz at UNO within the next few days.

+1

The guy is a Tom Crean clone. Didn't care for him in school. Don't care if he leaves now.

Of course if he is as good of an asst. as TC was, we should keep him.

the only bad thing about barone leaving is his wife is a fox , I think she lived on the same floor one year in our apartment building.

In standard Berone form, he dove on the flow on the way out of the Al McGuire Center.

Sorry, but what the hell does that mean?

I think he means that Barone, known for his floorburns and headstrong effort to mask his lack of athleticism, exited the AL as he would have done in a game (i.e., "dove on the floor").

Still makes no sense...LOL!

BTW, mu1642, I don't hate Rab. I think he's hilarious! Is he a good assistant coach? Sure, just not stellar. Barone...well...thanks for filling in the void at PG at MU. But if it wasn't for that, I wouldn't care for the guy.

Didn't he hit a shot against UMass at the buzzer before half, while in the air? I want to say he caught a rebound around the foul line and before coming back down, shot it with like 2 seconds left, and it went in.  Totally unnecesarry.

Did Rab bring his Tailhook act with him to MU? I can't fault a guy for chasing tail but MU isn't a target rich environment, if you know what I mean...
