Expectations on Roster Turnover
« on: April 09, 2008, 03:55:31 PM »
Trying to get a feel for roster expectations

Best Case
Mbakwe stays, nobody transfers, TT, Fulce, O'Tule show up

Most Likely
Mbakwe stays, 1-2 players transfer, Fulce, O'Tule and some jucos show up

Worst Case
Mbakwe transfers, 2-3 players transfer, Fulce, O'Tule, jucos, and James leaves

Is that about where we are?  Trying to get my gauge for how to grade Buzz...

Is it already a given that Nick Williams isn't going to be here?

How in the world could anybody conclude that Taylor is coming here?

Your "most likely" of  "Mbakwe stays, 1-2 players transfer, Fulce, O'Tule and some jucos show up" sure is encouraging. I can't wait to purchase tickets to see these jucos.

Continuity indeed!!

I think Trevor is proabaly as good as gone. the only evidence that I have is what I read here in the boards, with him being the only one from the current roster to transfer. As far as the incoming players, N. Williams will probably be the onlt one not at MU next season and that's just from my gut feeling. I think TT, Fulce, and O'Tule will stick around...again, just a gut feeling.

PRN, just out of curiosity, should we have hired Trent Johnson of Stanford? Would that have satisfied you?

how about this:

Mbakwe gone

2 additional transfers

Otule and Fulce arrive

we make a deep tournament run

anyone else that Buzz can recruit is gravy.

Gone-Nick Williams, Christopherson, Hazel

Not positive- Mbakwe, Taylor

In- Otule, Fulce

Assuming that Jerel and Dominic are back (and how this isn't contiuity is beyond me) it looks like we'll be looking at 2 open roster spots. Personally, I'd like to see a post player brought in so we can bank the other one for '09.

How do you figure that Hazel's gone?

From all my readings, Buzz recruited ever single player we got.  My feeling is that TT will come in after the Buzz Jersey trip.  Otule is a lock.  So is Fulce.  I think Williams will come too.  I do think TM will leave for Minnesota.  I think its a dumb decision because Tubby has a ton of recruits coming in the next couple of years, especially big guys.  But I think he will jet.  TM showd some promise but he needed some work.

A pretty informed hunch. There have been issues all season.

Co-sign 100%.

We would have lost these players no matter who was hired people say in defense of giving Buzz time.

Well, if that's the case, wouldn't you feel a little better about Year II with an established Head Coach like Chris Lowery, Travis Ford, Tony Bennett, or the others mentioned by Rosiak when our talent level will be much lower and our need for a great tactician will be much higher?

That'd be a shame. I mean, Hazel's not a star by any means, but it sure makes things difficult if we lose ANY of our big guys, good ones or not. If Otule wanted out, that would reeeeally suck.

We're going to look like IU soon with all these guys bailing  ;)

Hate to be harsh, but Hazel and Scott are borderline Division I players and certainly not Big East-caliber.
