I think that we can all chalk up a good season next year if everyone comes back and no injuries.  HERE GOES THE BIG IF

IF success next season can build some excitement from the program and Buzz can pull down more four star recruits for 2009 and build on our recent success, Crean will lose MOST (not all) recognition for what he did with the program.

I make this argument because our star trio of guards all have mentioned that Wade was a big reason they came to MU so that they can put their footprint in the program's history like Wade did.  If they bring success to Buzz in his first year, excitement in the program will come and their footprint (at least in Marquette Fans) will be made.  With this said, alot of credit was given to Buzz for this year's recruits and the four star 2009 recruit.  Between this, if the "BIG IF" does happen, I would chalk up Crean's success to Wade and that's it.

Any agreement here???

As much as I think Crean was a sleaze-bag, it's wrong to take away what he did do for MU Bball. This thread will just turn into the same old Crean arguments anyway, though....  :-\

I am new to the BLOG, you must forgive me for chiming in on my opinions on why I will not miss Crean and why I will give Buzz a shot.

oops, i'm sorry-- didn't mean to kill your thread. my apologies!

A successful season next year can't be taken for granted. People underestimate Ouse's impact this year. We have very little inside next year, particularly if Trevor leaves as reported. All I've heard is that Otule is a major project. Hopefully with his size though he can step in and contribute.

I think when anyone says Crean's success is due to Wade and that's it, fails miserably to explain to me the success without Wade.

Crean's gone, he did a good job for MU, accomplished things that hadn't been done in 30 years.  Now it's Brent's turn.

Before Wade had made any impact, Crean had signed Diener, Novak and Merritt...three pretty damn good players that did a lot for our program.  After Wade, he signed James, Matthews and McNeal and then later Lazar.

I, for one, enjoyed the ride of the last 9 years far better than the ride most times the previous 20 years.  For that, I'm thankful to have been a part of it on a number of different levels.

Agreed on Novak and Diener... and Merritt was a good get (being Mr. Basketball in WI)... but he was a terrible player and excruciating to watch (save a few games).  Much less offensive and defensive game than even a role player like Barro.

sorry, but if our 2 three star recruits bolt as indicated, we're left w/ 2 two stars.

ChicosBailBonds

Depending on the recruiting service, all four are 3 stars next year.

As for Merritt, if you were to tell me today we would sign a kid that would finish with the number he did all-time....please make it so.
