Without Father Wild, MU would be Loyola.  Most of the administration has demonstrated their incompetence over and over again.  And of course the cluelessness of the BOT is legendary.

A 6 yr contract is ridiculous.  If anything, Buzz should be interim coach for a year, and if it doesn't pan out, we open the search again when better candidates are available.  Again, not surprising though -- this is from the same folks who signed Crean to a 10 yr ,15+ M contract with only a 650k buyout.  Whoever approved that buyout should be fired.

Sure would be fun trying to recruit with an "interim" coach.

I still think 6 yrs is too long, but if it's just to give the appearance that he'll be around to recruits, then I'm fine with it (as long as the morons who draw up our coaches' contracts don't make the severance 7 figures).  But Buzz needs to be on a pretty short leash, as an interim coach would be.

Actually, the $650k was IU's share of the buyout. MU will receive a negotiated amount much higher than that, which Crean (or whatever IU bootsers foot the bull) will be on the hook for.

Ask Cincinnati and Andy Kennedy how the whole "interim" coach thing worked out.

They're still trying to scrape that program off the payment 2 years later.
The General has taken on a new command.

Umm, ok.  Depending how this contract is structured and how much MU fans lower their expectations, we could only hope to begin scraping until 2014.
