People may not be happy that we hired Williams, but don't get pissed at him.  It isn't his fault that he was selected.  Support Buzz because he is now the major face of our university.  Get pissed with the administration if you want, but lets support Buzz.

Oh, you mean Steve - I"m glad I stepped up to the challenge of a job I never wanted to begin with - Cottingham? THat guy? We should focus our ire on that guy? WHy, whatever do you mean.

Cottingham....you friggin suck.

You think he turned down better people? You think others in the Admin. were not involved??? Please, there were no really good options here. MU is not a destination, as Crean so eloquently pointed out.

I couldn't agree more Niv.  Cottingham just put this program back at least 9 years, if not more.  I didn't think MU could screw this up this badly.  I so wanted to believe that we LEARNED from the Gold situation.  I guess not.

I've heard from a number of people who I trust, that TC's finger prints are all over this.  So maybe we're a decent gig but we're still brainwashed by TC.

The man hasn't coached a Marquette game yet, but we are going to throw him under the bus.

Get a grip people!!!

At least hear him out tomorrow.

Final Four or Bust

Here is my issue with buzz.  I don't like the hire, but if we couldn't get anyone else we will have to live with it (and I aint impressed with his recruiting frankly, but we shall see).  My issue is his statement that he get the head job or he is gone to iu withcrean who just screwed us.  When he comes out and says that it tells me he has no loyalty to mu, and probably would have tried to take some of our kids with him.  Who knows, maybe he is behind the hurley comments.  I guess I would have preferred him to stay quiet and let things play out and decide after.  Instead he used his leverage to get the job, not necessarily because he wants to be at mu, but because he could.  That is my issue.  He has to overcome that perception by me. At least crean made it sound like this was a dream job- I feel if he does well he will leveage again or leave for more.  Not a great first impression, IMO

only a warrior

any link to show what statements he exactly made??  If he said that, then he is a douchebag.

Final Four or Bust

lots of reports last week about him no staying if he wasn't hired- and stories about him going to iu- don't have a direct link- on a phone

Here's the statement:

"Williams' voice mail box was naturally full Wednesday morning. So a text exchange followed. He said he'll go to Indiana if he doesn't get the top job at Marquette and meanwhile "pray 4my wife + kids" facing the prospect of another yet another move."

Naturally, all of the current MU assistants were mulling their career options when Crean bailed. In truth, there was probably a decent chance you'd see Buzz iin a different head coaching capacity if MU didn't offer, but can you blame him for not wanting to stay an assistant forever?

+1 (not exactly sure what that means, but it seems to be the latest means of showing support)

Final Four or Bust

I don't blame him if he didnt stay, but don't say it publicly AFTER one of your top recruits and some others say they are gone unless you are coach. It is using his leverage which may be good.  I just don't get the sense he really wants mu over others- but let's hear him.  Bad form- showing his loyalty to crean instead of the school in trying times.  Prove me wrong buzz

unionssuck

Agreed.  We just got done with a guy who repeatedly used leverage to exploit MU's loyalty in exchange for none in return.  We don't need another one of those guys.

I really hope that Buzz just had some anxiety about whether he would be retained at all, and wasn't giving our weak arse administration an ultimatum.
