MARQKC

The Marquette women's basketball team defeated Michigan State 81-66 on Saturday to win the Women's National Invitation Tournament.

For those of us who saw Marquette play (and lose to) Kansas in a power-outage-darkened Allen Fieldhouse on Dec. 6, this is great, great news. Our women's team is very young. They played strong and with heart, closing their 21-14 season with five wins (three on the road) against teams from the Missouri Valley, SEC, Big 12 and  Big 10 (two) to take a national trophy home to the Al.

As Coach Mitchell states in the Journal Sentinel story, "the foundation has been laid for a great future."
