Well, maybe he'll be our shooter next year.

Christopherson lights up in second quarter against Indians
By Steve Rundio

One of the goals of the Tomah High School boys basketball team is to hold opponents to 12 points or under per period.

Scott Christopherson laid waste to that goal all by himself ... in a mere three minutes.

Christopherson unloaded for 17 points midway through the second period and ignited La Crosse Aquinas' 74-35 rout of the Indians Friday at Tomah High School.

It was Tomah's Mississippi Valley Conference opener. The Indians fell to 0-3 overall.

Aquinas, ranked number one in Division 3, improved to 3-0.

The Indians trailed 16-9 when Christopherson drilled a 3-pointer with 4:48 left in the second period.

That began a stretch of 2 minutes and 52 seconds when Christopherson hit three 3-point shots and four 2-point shots. By time he was done, Aquinas had a 35-11 advantage.

Christopherson sat out most of the second half. He scored all of his game-high 20 points by halftime.

The Indians showed signs of life in the fourth quarter, when Trevor Ludeking hit a field goal and Tyler Felber came off the bench to drill a 3-pointer. That ignited a 12-1 Tomah run that was capped by Tyler Butzler's basket that cut the gap to 67-33 with 3:17 left.

Aquinas ended the game with a 7-2 run that included five points in the final 49 seconds.

Consecutive layups off turnovers in the first quarter gave Aquinas an early 8-0 lead.

Two foul shots by Ryan Fahey stretched Aquinas' lead to 12-2 before Tomah rallied at the end of the quarter. Adam Westpfahl's field goal cut the gap to 13-7 heading into the second period.

Garrett Johnson hit a field goal to bring Tomah to within 15-9 with 5:11 left in the second period before Christopherson began his tear.

Butzler led the Indians with eight points. He was also Tomah's leading rebounder with six, and he had three blocked shots.

Johnson, Ludeking, Rhett Monroe and Jason Hericks all had four rebounds.

Aquinas was 19 of 32 from the foul line and caused numerous Tomah turnovers off its full-court press.

sounds like he's developed into a nice player.........still, if DJ doesnt go pro, I'd guess that SC is redshirted next year

dwaderoy2004

there's no way SC gets redshirted if we continue to shoot like we have.  SC would have to steal minutes from the big 3 + daveed, but it would have to happen.

3-pt shooting aside...we do need a guy that can get hot in the first half and keep us in games early :(  I still think Cubillan, Hayward, and Fitz can answer some of our shooting woes from outside if we can get them more attempts.  I know hayward hasn't looked great from long range, but he lit people up all the time in prep school - it's got to come to him at this level sooner or later.

Unless he shoots like Novak or Redick, where would SC play?

Acker
James
Matthews
McNeal
Cubillan
Fitzgerald*
Hayward*

I'd expect Fitz and Lazar to be more oriented to the perimeter next season given the class TC just signed.

There won't be much room for a 6th guard next year, I'd guess.  And given Cubillan's 51% shooting from deep, I don't see him losing minutes to SC if shooting remains a weakness for this team next year.  If anything, I think you'd see DC slide over to the 2G more.  I hope we see that more this season, frankly. Jerel can't shoot

I don't see anyway where you would have Acker and Daveeeed playing at the same time.  I know we do it now with DJ and David, but thats for limited minutes and I don't believe Acker is as good as DJ or hard to say, as tall.  SC will see minutes next year, not as a starter, but as a off the bench threat....probably first guard into the game to replace Matthews or McNeal.  Also, if Fitz does step up from behind the arc, then SC would come in when Fitz wasn't out there.  If DJ stays, then I can see a line up with SC in it of

DJ(Daveed)
SC
Matthews
Barro
Hayward(or one of the new big bodies)
"A Plan? Oh man, I hate plans. That means were gonna have to do stuff. Can't we just have a strategy......or a mission statement."
