MUSF

There are alot of angry, pissed off, shocked people here. I totally understand why people are pissed but TC's departure and legacy at MU is not so black and white.

People, including TC, aren't always completely genuine or simply a con-man/used car salesman. TC is a flawed individual and was a flawed coach at MU but that doesn't mean he is a complete snake, Benedict Arnold, B****, or any of the other names people enjoy calling him these days. He did a lot of good for this program on a lot of different levels and he was the best coach MU has had in a long time. He also is a type A control freak that often rubs people the wrong way. He ran a very respectful and honorable program and yet he left in a somewhat disrespectful and dishonorable way. He ran this program with integrity and at times seems to lack that same quality on a personal level. He took us to a final four and yet struggled to close out many big games. He found great talent in many places others were not looking and yet couldn't get over the hump with top rated recruits. Our 2003 team blew the doors off of arguably the best team in the country then had the favor returned by KU a week later. This is Crean's legacy. It is complicated and not easily defined.

It is a complicated world and Crean's departure is a more complex issue than most of you are recognizing. To sit here and say that Crean is a great human being and the best coach in college basketball would be silly. Likewise, it is equally silly to claim that the synicism of many posters here was in fact wisdom simply because TC left on less than desirable terms. The fact that most of us felt that Crean was a good coach and a good representative of MU was not a con job. He was a good coach and a good representative of MU but he was also the politician that many said he was.

I know people are pissed off but this is the reality of major college athletics these days. This just in... coaches lie and you can get out of any contract. There is a lot to criticize about Crean and his departure but most of this has been nothing more than sour grapes. When you waste your time whining about being disrespected, you prove the opposition's point. We are starting to sound like a sub-par program with an inferiority complex. TC left to take a job at one of the most elite college BBall programs in the country. I can't fault him for that decision but I do think he handled it poorly.

On some level, PRN/4ever/DamonKeys are right, we do need to calm down. The sun will come up tomorrow. Chico's myself and others are also right, we will potentially take a step back after TC. Hopefully we make the right hire. As I said before, this is a complex issue and I have some complex emotions right now. I am both pissed off and grateful but I am ready to move on. I suggest some of you start moving on as well.
