60 minutes is an awfully long time

MUEng92

Last night I was driving around shortly after 6:00 PM in Delafield, WI (for you out-of-towner's, it is roughly 25-30 minutes straight west of Milwaukee).  I tuned my radio to 1290 and was able to pick up NOTHING!!!!

I have the ultimate respect for Bill Cords and what he did for MU.  And maybe the money side of the radio station selection was too good to pass up, but this is absolutely ridiculous.  It is a local toll call for me to call a phone number on MU's campus, but I am not able to tune in the broadcast of MU's game (and coach's show) on my car radio?

WISN is only slightly better than 1290 at night, but signing a radio deal with a station that can't reach your entire local metropolitan market is a joke.

Chili

There really is only one station in Milwaukee that can reach the entire market and that is WTMJ which will never be home of MU basketball. The problem is that Milwaukee doesnt have many full signal strength frequencies available to use.
But I like to throw handfuls...

Hmmm, will the radio show be archived on the CSTV media thingy?  Rarely can I tune in on the 'net at 5pm (MST), but I'd love to hear the show - glad they're expanding it.

I was under the impression that their nighttime broadcasting power is much less than their daytime broadcasting power and that they were being allowed to completely broadcast the games at full daytime power even if they end after sunset.  Am I right or is this a brainfart?

I think you might be right on this one. Someone should ask that question at the first show.

It's clearly a case of worshipping at the altar of ESPN.

I went to the last show of the year, last season.

Firstly, the crowd was small, maybe 50 people.  I was told that 50 was actually a high number, as it was the last show of the year, and it's usually attended by much fewer.

It's pretty cool, though, the coach is pretty accessable, talking to the crowd, handing out MU swag.  I imagine with 60 minutes to fill, he'll bring a player for each show, just to kill some time.

Recommended.  I might be there on Monday.

WarriorsNow

Actually, I think 50 people is a pretty good crowd for a Monday night!

They just need to be east of 35th street to be able to hear the show.

Big Papi

Its very disappointing that I lose the signal as soon as I cross into Racine at nights.  Whats really disappointing is that the Rockford area fans will be able to hear the broadcast but I won't be able to unless I am online.  Thank God we have a lot more games on tv this year than last.

From the online chat that Scout held with the GM (or whoever) at ESPN Milwaukee, he said that the coaches shows and other MU items would be available for podcasting.  Granted I don't even know if he knows what "podcasting" is, but at least it's something.

Doesn't anybody know if there is a way to get files such as these to automatically update to your Ipod without subscribing through ITunes?
