Not really.

While Crean may be arrogant and some may have mixed feelings on him... there is no doubt that he was a success at MU.

Also, I'm not sure why everybody has a boner over Tony Bennett.

Why? Because he's from Wisconsin? So what.

Well, Mike obviously doesn't like Crean, and he even makes a comment about his tan.

That's not professional for somebody who works for a paper (if you ask me), because his tan has nothing to do with his performance.

I understand Crean rubbed a lot of media members the wrong way... but this article is just a chance for Hunt to pump of Tony Bennett and vilify TC.

Not sure that is really good or insightful reporting.

I know people love the whole "local boy makes good" angle... but I really don't think Tony Bennett is coming to MU, and I have a sneaky feeling Mr. Hunt may mention something like "MU made a mistake by not pursuing Tony Bennett harder" in a later column.

I won't say its bias... but it's definitely not without opinion.

I think Hunt presented both the good (Crean's Final Four and improvements to the MU facilities) and the bad (one NCAA win since the Final Four). Did he nail it? I don't know, but he pretty much came close to driving it home.

I understand his push for Bennett. It actually makes some sense.

What I don't get is how - with one move - the MU and UW communities can now be closer than ever in recent memory:

- MU AND UW fans booing Crean when IU plays UW
- Tony Bennett, (edited) son of a UW coach and UW assistant, becomes MU's new coach

Well, I guess I hope my sports writers provide an educated "sports opinion".

Not Mike's opinion on Tom Crean's personal appearance. No need for that.

In all fairness, I've never liked Mike or any of the sports columnists because I don't think they really provide much of an educated view on sports (unless it's the Packers, I guess).

Hunt & TC were pretty chumming a few years ago.  Not sure if tehre was a falling out but TC did plenty of sit downs with MH and MH would spin stuff TC's way.

IMO the introduction of the tan into the COLUMN is a symbol for how fake TC could be.

I agree wholeheartedly with Mike.  He calls out Crean on his promoterism over coaching.  Let's move on.  I'm tired of this every darn year.
