Tyshawn Taylor to seek release from MU

Written by: NY Warrior

Zagoria talks to Bob Hurley, Taylor's coach, commit in his latest blog.

No surprise, though MU is not obligated to release Taylor or any member of the 2009 class from their binding LOIs.  In the past under Bill Cords, MU did not honor these requests  - - - but times have changed.

It's time for quick, decisive action from Marquette in the face of these shocking developments.

Hurley's right.  If a coach can leave despite several years and millions of dollars left on a "binding" contract, a 17 or 18 year old kid ought to be released from his commitment too.

I would tell them they will be released one week after the new coach is hired, if they do not want to play for him. The new coach should have a chance to talk to the recruits. It is only recently that the NCAA has been allowing players to be released from their LOI, so I do not think what MU has done in the past really matters.

Read the article ......

"I would like the opportunity to have him released from his scholarship in the event that we don't like who's hired," Hurley said

I have no problem with this and would expect nothing less from any recruit.

Yeah, Hurley said we have to re-recruit Taylor...so feces, the next moves by the AD will determine whether our team comes back strong, or crumbles....unless we get lucky.

This ALWAYS have to be re-recruited.  In a way, Hurley's comments are good.  Right now we have a ranked team with a solid recruiting class coming.  This message makes it VERY clear to the board and Nothingham how they have to approach replacing Crean.  Unless, of course, MU wants to be DePaul 2.0.
