I don't think this fell out of the sky today, and I wonder if both schools knew about this for at least a few days.  Hopefully MU was not completely blind sided by this because that generally creates quick actions that are later regretted.

Crean has been looking to leave since his final four run.....he's a fraud.

Fraud indeed.    Every year takes interest in another job, comes back to MU and holds them hostage for more years and more $$.   I suspect this year that MU didn't cave in and he left.

Not nearly as quickly as you will be told it did tomorrow. Tony Bennet did not "remove himself from consideration" and then they called Crean. TB learned they were going to hire Crean,  and decided to "remove himself" from consideration.

Someone on the other board claiming to have sources is saying that it didn't happen like that.  Supposedly IU contacted Crean and he said no thanks, so then they went to Bennett but when he said no they came back to Crean with a much better offer.

And yet, he didn't. It took one of the most elite programs in the country to pry him from MU and even then, it seems they had to really work to get him.

He took a better job.

Let me say that again.

He took a better job.
