A friend of mine at school here is from Cincy and pointed out that Miller has a 4-star 6'11" center coming in next year.  What if Marquette picked up Miller and this beast followed?

I don't think Weber would be a good idea. I think that program has moved backwards since Self's recruits graduated.

Pearl's probably a pipe dream, between his success at UT, and his animosity towards us while at UWM.

Think it has moved backwards? Think???  There's a f-ing impact crater he drove that program into the ground so hard.

The 2005 Illini were 100% Bill Self.  Don't even think anything different.  Southern Illinois was created by the guy who is at the helm of the Purdue program right now, Matt Painter.  He was Weber's recruiter while he was down there and took the team over once Weber left.

Bruce Weber wouldn't be the worst possible hire for this program to make right now, but it would be pretty damn close.

I like Sean Miller.

Not that I want him, but I'm surprised none of us have mentioned Rick Majerus yet.  I figured he'd be first on someone's mind.

Just say no to anyone with an AARP card.

How about Steve Sutton from Oral Roberts?

I'm warm to the possibility of Gregory (Dayton) and Grant (VCU).

I have no desire to see Tony Bennett... I'd rather have O'Neill back before a bleepin' Bennett (expletive pun intentional)

1. Sean Miller

No particular order:
Travis Ford
Mark Few
Kevin Stallings
Jay Wright - He was mentioned but I doubt he would move within the BE.

No thank you:
Bennett - Great coach, but B O R I N G
Bruce Weber - Unless we owe the Illini a favor or something
Keno Davis - Sorry I think we're above the point where we consider a coach with 1 year of experience
Buzz Williams - Same reason, although I really, really hope he stays
Scott Drew - He's done incredible things at Baylor, but they still barely made the tournament. We are not a "bubble" program

Super intriguing but I don't know if I like:
Jay Bilas. Plus that means we wouldn't have him analyzing which he is great at.

I hated the guy when he was at UCLA, but I like him now as an annoucer. Steve Lavin.

What about his awful tenure at UCLA makes people think he would be a good coach?  Sure he's a fine announcer - when has that ever been indicative of coaching/recruiting skills.

Doctor V

2 things- as much as i love bilas and lavin as analysts, they would both be a coaching risk, even though jay is the crap

also, bennett is boring?? ok you know who else is- ben howland- and you know what hes done?? 3 straight final 4's

now im not saying bennett is howland, or that he could ever get MU to 3 straight final 4's, all im saying is that we shouldnt be complaining about boring if it leads to great results

youre only boring to others that are watching you win

I'm not sure I'd describe five Sweet 16s in seven years as "awful." Yeah, he never lived up to UCLA's expectations, but failing to meet exceptionally lofty expecations and awful aren't synonymous.

I'm not pulling for Bilas. I think he could make an excellent coach, but I don't want to test that at MU. As for Bennett being boring, it's my short list. I wouldn't be pissed, but it's my list and my opinion. Howland, IMO, plays a faster paced more exciting version of Bennett ball.

BRUCE WEBER! Lets hope his recruits come over to MU AND he is quite good at coaching other coach's players!

Let's give Rick Pitino a call.  Maybe if we pay him $20 mil a year and move Marquette to Kentucky he'd consider?  Thoughts?

I can't see him possibly repeating even that at another school.  A sweet 16 at UCLA is like at best a first round win at other schools.  With all the power and tools UCLA possesses in the basketball world on the west coast, that is understandably unacceptable.  Look how much better Howland did in just 5 seasons.  In 3 he was already in a FF that Lavin never sniffed.

he will never leave Gonzaga....

Why do you say that?

he has said it in many press conferences, if he would have left, he would have been scooped up a long time ago.
