Deflections
« on: March 22, 2008, 10:30:39 PM »
Many have questioned and/or ridiculed MU's tracking of deflections - theoretically at the expense of good position D. Tonight provides a great example of just why they do it. The position D was pretty good all night (just didn't match up size-wise inside), but while I certainly don't have the numbers, I am willing to bet the deflection numbers are well below what they established as a goal. Had they gotten a few more, MU undoubtedly would have won. One or two more deflections likely result in one or two fewer baskets for the Lopez sisters. That was our best option to keep them from scoring and we just didn't come up with enough.
