Q: Mike of Oshkosh - College basketball coaching success is oftentimes measured by NCAA tournament victories. Considering MU hasn't won a tournament game since the D Wade era, is it time to talk about cutting ties with Crean if the team once again fails to get out of the first round?

A: Todd Rosiak - I hope you're kidding.

Q: Gerry of Raleigh - I can't believe there are people there who would want Crean fired if he doesn't win Thursday. People don't know how good they have something until they lose it. I live in Raleigh and the NCSTATE fans ran Herb Sendik out of town two years ago. All he did was go to the NCAA every year including the sweet 16 once. They said he and his offense were too boring. State hasnt been to the NCAA in the last two years, finished last in the ACC this year, and Sendik has gone on to turn Arizona State's program around the corner. Fans are idiots sometimes.

A: Todd Rosiak - It's the 'what-have-you-done-for-me-lately' syndrome. Certainly, Crean has his his flaws -- everyone does. But was it just 10, 15 years ago when fans would have fallen all over themselves just to get into the NCAA tournament ONCE, let alone three straight years? Or win 20 games multiple years? I can understand the frustration with not being able to get past the first round. That's natural. But I'd be interested in knowing just who all these fans have in mind as a possible replacement. I think your example of Sendek's case is a great one.

This was interesting about James and McNeal coming back next season.

Q: Jenn of Chicago - MU's charity lines woes have proved to be key in all their recent loses, have you noticed or spoken to the coaches about this...Do they think it's mental at this point? Also, last season there was a lot of talk about Dominic James going to the NBA, obviously he stayed...Do you think he and McNeal will both return as seniors give the season had ups and downs for both?

A: Todd Rosiak - Free throws are mental more than anything. MU practices them enough, I know that. As for James and McNeal, if I had to put money on it right now, I'd say both return next season.

This team would be absolutely sick next year if Dom returns.  Something I look forward too!

I love James' game when he's on - who doesn't - but unless we make a final four run on the strength of an all tournament performance by him, I don't see him being drafted.  Now, if he decides to go to Europe, as some have mentioned before, that's a different story.  If I were to bet my house, I'd say he's back.  Now, don't construe that as me not wanting a Final Four run - nothing could be further from the truth!
