On the Mike and Mike show today and they asked Mike Brey to pick a team that will go farther than their seed dictates they should.

Brey picked Marquette.  He said that when Marquette is on they are in gear they can't be stopped.  Said Marquette has speed and can get to loose balls and offensive boards.  Went on to say Marquette is much better than a 6 seed.  Also called McNeal one of the best players in college basketball.  Said he doesn't get talked about outside of the Big East.

If that guy would stop wearing mock turtlenecks, I might actually start to like him!

Haha agreed.

These coaches crack me up:

Tom Crean was asked who does UK remind you of...he says Pitt who incidently he just lost to (way to set the bar high, Tommy).

Jim Boehiem was asked who could make a run...he says Pitt & Louisville.  This was 30 seconds after talking about how Cuse gave away the Pitt game.

Mike Brey is asked who can make a run...he chooses the last team his team lost to.

Like I said yesterday I feel we're making a run to the Sweet 16. I have the feeling this team is going to be firing on all cylinders this weekend - forcing turnovers, dictating the tempo, and knocking down three's.

I can't rely on the 3 pt'ers, but I say, pound the defensive and offensive boards.

I think Brey is a little more genuine in his response.  Didn't he turn to his assistants at the end of the last game and wondered how did they beat us once?

I really do think he likes our team a lot but of course coaches in the Big East are going to compare other teams to Big East teams.  That is who they are most familiar with and of course when asked who will make a run they will pick a conference foe.

Actually from everything I have read Kentucky does play very good in your face defense that is similar to Pitt.

Who is he supposed to compare UK to??

I guess TC could say, "Kentucky reminds me of Savannah State".

I think the main reason why Crean compared UK to Pitt is because UK is led by a New York City kid in PG Ramel Bradley. I think the comparison mainly boils down to the New York City connection both teams have folks.

maybe it's the fact that both teams play a slower, more controlled type of game instead of running on all cylinders...
