According to a study released yesterday, Marquette, with an 89 percent graduation rate, ranked tied for 7th among NCAA Tournament teams in terms of basketball players earning diplomas.

UNLV (15 percent), American (18 percent) and Georgia (19 percent) were the worst.

Big East schools:

WVU, 33 percent
Nova, 89 percent
Pitt, 56 percent
Notre Dame, 91 percent
Louisville, 50 percent
Georgetown, 82 percent
UConn, 22 percent

Bucky ... 67 percent.

Anyhow, another reason to be proud of MU's players and program.

That's great news.  I don't know how important this is to others, but I'd be embarassed if I were a fan of schools like GA or CT.  It shouldn't be that difficult to make sure the kids are hitting the books so that after all the work they put in, they get something out of the experience when they leave the school.

Have you been to Hartford?  Don't think anyone cares.

But I agree, 90% is great and should be a great recruiting tool.  I love that we are higher then Georgetown.

American at 18%

I dont know anything about this college, and from that i would have expected more than 18% of its athletes to graduate. Unless the campus is located adjacent to a nude beach are brewery what are these kids doing that keeps them from graduating?

Does anyone know who did not graduate from MU and why.

Wade, Blankson, Bell, ect.

100% of the players who has exhausted their eligibility under Crean has graduated.
But I like to throw handfuls...

Thanks, I did not realize that it went back to the Wade era.  There should definitely be an exemption for losing someone who is successful in the NBA.  There can always be a Bell.  I am not sure why we would get penalized for transfers though.
