Did anyone else hear when they were talking about the tournament committee a couple of days ago, that 6 of the 10 members have no affiliation with basketball, and no experience in college basketball.  I find this absolutely ridiculous... 6 of 10!

Well, let's meet them:

Look like all former associate or head AD's of the major conferences to me.

At least the Big East has some representation this year.  If anyone has the address where the committee is meeting, send this guy a fruit basket.  Also, with Ohio State's AD on the committee, expect their pathetic resume to be good enough for a bid.

Jeffrey A. Hathaway
Director of Athletics, UCONN
Big East Conference
Term Expires September 2012
After serving as an Associate AD from 1990 - 2001, Jeffrey Hathaway was named UConn's Athletics Director in June of 2003. In the intervening stretch, he served as the AD at Colorado State. Hathaway was responsible for securing long-term contract extensions for Jim Calhoun, Geno Auriemma and football coach Randy Edsall in 2004-05. Many observers credit him as a key player in UConn football's impressive rise to national awareness.

The Sporting News named Hathaway to its "Power 100 List" in 2004, and has chaired a number of Big East Committees prior to his selection to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee. He is a Maryland native, attended the University of Maryland, and served in a number of administrative roles within the Terps' Athletics Department before moving onto UConn.

I think they meant (it was Digger, Bilas and Knight) that they weren't specifically basketball minds... you have guys on there that were AD's... however sometimes the Athletic Director doesn't know what creates a great basketball team.  They were saying there should be more Dean Smith's, etc on the panel.

Current ADs are not allowed to vote on their own team.

I respectfully disagree. I'm not sure there is a more bias group than coaches. The coaching fraternity is the ultimate good ole boy system. I don't think coaches, former or current, would produce a better product than the current system does.
