I'm sitting at the library and I just discoved this.

http://www.marquette.edu/library/information/news/2006/basketball.html

December 2006--The Libraries' Department of Special Collections and Archives is pleased to announce the availability of a newly digitized collection of men's basketball games spanning 1935-1990.  The project, funded by a grant from the M Club, converted over 200 films to DVD format.

Marquette University Archives holds a significant collection of footage from men's basketball, originally created as 16mm film. In addition to converting the film, archivists added further descriptive information about each game to enhance access.  Using a variety of sources, such as game statistics, media guides, and student publications, staff members have expanded the descriptions to include:

information about the type of production represented, so that researchers can distinguish between training-quality footage produced for coaches, and edited footage which appeared on television;
running time, to better ascertain what portion of the game might be represented by the footage; and
game highlights (which may not appear in the footage), to facilitate identification of the footage most likely to include particular players, events, and milestones.

A complete inventory and index to the collection is available online.  University Archives will make copies of footage in the collection for personal use; please see the price list and copyright statement. To order copies or for further information, contact Marquette University Archives at (414) 288-5905.

This project is one of a number sponsored by the M Club, an alumni group composed of former intercollegiate athletes.  The M Club's generosity also made possible the recent photo digitization project covering women's varsity sports since the mid-1980s, "Women in Blue and Gold," announced in October 2006 as part of the University's 125th Anniversary celebration.

Watch for the announcement of a related Archives undertaking, expected to debut in mid-2007 and also funded by the M Club--digitizing MU football games from 1925-1960.

That's pretty cool!  I think this might be wiki material for the M Club :)

I'm assuming obtaining rights to copy the newer stuff may be an issue.  Just a guess though.

No sound on the Murf one though, was that before they had microphones on the cameras?   ;D

No, they just got sick of listening to him talk about the wide post, Listerine, and taping ankles and just shut the mic off.

;D
