...we win the next two and fall to Louisville by 10 or less?

I know that everyone(including me), is bummed about the last couple of games.  But I really am happy with our draw in the tournament.  I think that we can win the next two.  If we do beat SH and ND, I like our chances as a 5/6 seed and I can see us winning 1 or more games come the big dance.

On a side note.  I could see the team thinking the same thing when the brackets were forming...not that it is an excuse for mailing it in on Saturday, but I could see it happening.

I think I would be ecstatic if we had a single-digit loss to Louisville.  The would be an enormous improvement over the way we got it handed to us the last two times, especially given the way they are playing lately.  I usually view single-digit loss games as games that could go either way - a small tweak and suddenly it could be a single digit win.  Reeling off two wins in a row to get there (presumably the second one over ND) would be a nice confidence booster as well heading into the dance.  Bonus points if we make Harangody cry.

I would hope that Saturday's pathetic showing would take care of this.

As for the two wins and close loss to UL, sign me up.

i would not feel good about it. losing to slick rick and loserville 3 times in 1 season would about make me sick. i know we lost badly twice, BUT its not the easiest thing to beat a team 3 times in one season, AND i dont think they are that much better than us when we play our game. I really hope it comes down to us and them because I see a pissed off Marquette showing up and proving themselves

I think if we play our absolute best game we still lose to UL by at least six points. They are better (and bigger) than us at every position.

I disagree that UofL is better than MU at every position. I think DJ and Jerel are better than anyone on UofL at the guard spots. Sure, a guy like Jerry Smith is a better 3-point shooter than McNeal at the SG spot, however, McNeal does much more in every other facet of the game than Smith. Tell me one area of the game besides spot up shooting where Smith is better than McNeal? As far as DJ, just think how much better he would look if he had bigs like Padgett, Clark, and Caracter to draw attention away from him and to throw dump down passes to. He would be stellar just like he was when he had Novak his frosh year to open the driving lanes. No way is Andre McGee or Edgar Sosa better than him. Overall, they're better shooters than DJ, however, DJ has a much bigger impact in all the other facets of the game. I think some people fail to realize how much a guy like McNeal affects the game in the many ways that he does. A lot of times people like to focuses on his weaknesses, but no one talks about how much he helps with his slashing ability and how much he disrupts passing lanes and creates havoc on defense. As far as the SF, PF,  and C spots UofL has the advantage. The adavantage they do have at the SF and PF spots isn't nearly as big as it is at the C spot though. Terrence Williams and Earl Clark really only just have more overall length and athleticism than Hayward and Matthews. That's what gives them their advantage. The skill sets of all 4 players are pretty even with Hayward prolly having a better skill set than Clark.
