College Basketball Invitational Tournament

I forgot that this year they were adding the new post-season tournament.

The website states that:

113 Division I men's basketball teams will be enjoying the postseason, up from 97 in 2007. The 16 team field will consist of teams that are not selected for the 65-team NCAA Tournament. Teams will be invited based upon their performance during their conference and non-conference schedule, as well as how well the team is playing at the end of the regular season.

Does this mean they can ask a team slated for the NIT to enter this tournament?  I know you can't turn down a NCAA bid but now that the NCAA runs the NIT as well can you turn that down?

Did you get the video on the Fitzgerald judo take down of the Syracuse player?  That seems about the only highlight of that game with the exception of a couple nice baskets by Jerel.

Actually, Fitz was the one taken down.  That's what I thought was so funny, the fans were booing Fitz, but his feet weren't even on the ground when the Belgian pulled him over the top of his body and the momentum caused them both to go down.

Right, the Syracuse player yanked the ball with Fitz holding it, causing Fitz to flip.  But Fitz landed on his feet and then the Syracuse player flipped over Fitz's back and onto his back on the floor.  The Syracuse player started to fuss and pout and the Marquette bench came to Fitz's side.

Yep, the Syracuse player was the one with the take-down.  Actually, I thought a jump ball could have been called.

On topic: I like the idea's this third tourney brings. The championship series is definitely interesting.

This is the tournament they are hoping brings down the NIT.  We have been approached to carry it.
