Syracuse last 4 in

And I agree with that addition.

They have the ingredients to really make some noise in the NCAAs.

They'll make some noise if their fans chant very loudly as they lose their first round game.

They are not deep and will be an 11 or 12 if they do make it, meaning they will play a top 25 team, and I do not see them beating that type of team on a neutral floor unless everything goes their way.

With 7 scholarship players I don't see them making any noise in the tournament.

I saw a bunch of kids with nothing to lose who put in perhaps their best 40 all season (maybe 2nd best behind the GTown win). Not to mention the outrageous emergence of the Belgian Beast.

In a Tournament where the game can sometimes be whistled to a fault, Cuse could find it difficult to field a full squad at the end of a tight game.

Syracuse will be an easy out? Then by extension..........

Transitive explanation is as logical as PRN wearing a Golden Eagle sweatshirt.

Boognish_MU

I think Syracuse will go farther in both tourney's then we will.  They have a better coach, and just better talent.
There downfall will be the lack of depth.

But...
I would take all of there starters over our players ... outside of lazar.

J Flynn is better than DJames by far...
Greeene is better than Wes.. (maybe not on defense)
Harris is better than McNeal
Onuaku and Barro are about even,... but I like Onuaku better

And Boheim is far better than Crean.

NateDoggMarq

look for the comittee to make amends for them excluding Syracuse this year by getting them into the 12-5 game as a 12 seed against Drake or Butler

the comittee has many bigger concerns than making amends for syracuse. i think the syr vs villanova game is a classic 8/9 bubble game for the comittee, with the loser being out for sure.

winner is square on the bubble, unless they follow it up with a win vs Gtown

so, everyone through Pitt is in IMO. BE gets 7 for sure, with the 8th for certain on the bubble unless they beat Gtown

I realize you're just stating your opinion, and I respect it.  I do disagree strongly with you taking Lazar (where'd he go?) and conceding McNeal.  The only player from MU that demonstrated his desire and ability to play w/'cuse was Jerel.

bilsu

I think any Big East team that loses on Wednesday better start worrying, including Marquette. We lose to Seton Hall that means we finish with 3 straight conference losses. West Virginia and Pitt have to worry about winning also.

Can you explain to me how Boheim is "far better than Crean?" I have always thought Boheim is overrated. He has certainly not out-performed MU since MU joined the Big East. That includes this year, despite having what you characterize as obviously more talent.

I also take issue with Flynn being "far better" than DJ. What makes you think Flynn is better?

NateDoggMarq

Boeheim=3 McDonalds All Americans on team
Crean=Zero

Boeheim=3 Final 4's
Crean 1=

Boeheim=1 national championship
Crean=0

I think number one settles it alone but the other two are icing

MUCam

Look, the numbers certainly favor Boeheim as far as longevity go.

3 Final Fours over 32 years.

1 National Championship over 32 years.

As far as the recruiting...I'll agree. Boeheim has caught bigger fish with much more frequency. I think Crean, to a certain extent, is overrated as a recruiter. I also think that history (both recent and past) + location have helped Boeheim recruit. That said, what has Boeheim done with all that extra talent???

I am not arguing that Crean is definitively a better coach than Boeheim. I just think it is disingenuous to claim that Boeheim is a "far better" coach than Crean. The numbers, over 32 years, don't point to Boeheim being "far better." The results, despite higher rated talent, don't speak to Boeheim being "far better." Is he arguably better? A good case can be made for that. Is he far better? I think that is a little overreaction.

Lets see if Crean gets close to Boheim's number of wins. Boheim has been in one of the best conferences for 25 years. Crean, quite frankly, should not be in the comparision.

false. all three of those teams are locks- unless you are saying they should worry about seeding cause they will obviously drop

ya seriously, if you're going to bring this up (considering how much longer boeheim has coached) then you might as well bring up his 769 wins vs. crean's 185

Nate or booger, doesn't it just BEG THE QUESTION then with 3 McDonald's All Americans, one national title, 3 Final Fours and 32 years of experience....why is he having to fight his ass off to get into the tournament for the third straight year (he won the BET 2 years ago, missed the NCAAs last year and is likely the last team in this year).

Just curious.

Sigh...all three are in...cold stone locks.  I know you're still trying to get to that 5 bid prediction earlier, but it ain't happening.  7 bids, maybe 8.  Those three teams are in.

NavinRJohnson

I think WVU, while they are more than likley in, may need to be just a little worried if they lose -- their profile isn't particularly strong, but the other two are in even if they don't show up on Wednesday.

SI's Stewart Mandel has 9 teams going with Villanova being IN (at a 12 seed) as opposed to Lunardi having them as 7th team out.

MU still a 5 seed according to Lunardi.  BADgers drop to a 3.

This year : Injuries. Last year... not enough talent.  Look at the recruits for next year... syracuse is top 4 in conference

DonCornholeone

Flynn, Greene and Harris are 3 NBA level talents, just young.  They can beat a lot of teams, it's the tourney, baby!
