Feel free to tear this to shreds... These MPGs take into consideration blowouts but I think the minutes will be distributed something like this:

If Colin Porter is cleared:

PG: Nigel James (30) Colin Porter (8) Nolan Minessale (2)
SG: Adrien Stevens (29) Nolan Minessale (8) Ethan J (2) Nash Walker (1)
SF: Nolan Minessale (13)  MPIII (17) Damarius Owens (9) Alex (1)
PF: Royce Parham (25) Damarius Owens (12)  MPIII (2) Alex (1)
C: Fru (25) Josh Clark (10)  Caedin (3) Royce (2)

If Colin Porter IS NOT cleared:

PG: Nigel James (30)  Nolan Minessale (5) Adrien Stevens (4) Nash Walker (2)
SG: Adrien Stevens (25) Nolan Minessale (9) Ethan J (3) Nash Walker (3)
SF: Nolan Minessale (10)  MPIII (19) Damarius Owens (10) Alex (1)
PF: Royce Parham (26) Damarius Owens (13)  Alex (1)
C: Fru (25) Josh Clark (10)  Caedin (2) Royce (3)

Wild card: Ian Miletic fills in at spots 2-4 when needed but minutes are sparse

I absolutely could be wrong but I think Shaka is going to attempt to keep starters fresh this season by utilizing a deep bench when possible. I also think spots 2-4 will have A TON of rotation, especially if Nolan and Adrien need to pop over to PG

SchnitzelBoy

Caedin's minutes will be the most controversial, but I think he finds a way to get into games against beefy centers. Shaka can't quit 18 but his role should shrink if what we're hearing about Josh Clark is true

Am I wrong in thinking Damarius will be the primary backup at PF? I still think Royce will spend a few minutes a night at center.

Opposing small forwards will have a hard time remembering who they're supposed to guard because I think that spot will have ample rotation

I think Alex, Nash, and Ethan will get into games as well but will get more than a few DNP marks as the rotation will have to run 9 deep on certain nights. Crowdis and Miletic will get walk-on minutes.

Don't know how it'll break down positionally, but I'll go:

James 32
Stevens 30
Parham 29
Fru 28
Minessale 25

Owens 18
Porter 12
Clark 9
Phillips 9
Caedin/Johnston/Egbuonu combine for 8

JakeBarnes

Nigel 40
fru 40
owens 40
stevens 40

rest of the minutes split

Close.  We are going to actually run only 4 guys all year.

Caedin is obviously playing 40 mpg.

I'll be really surprised if Phillips only gets 9 MPG, but it's fair to wonder where those additional minutes would come from.

Phillips is the new "Caedin has made a massive jump." He's the player I've heard the most about in terms of year to year improvement. I can tell you that he has visibly added a lot of muscle. Whether that translates to improvement remains to be seen.

I don't love the comparison, though.  I actually see the skills, potential, and athleticism with MPII.  Plus, he should have been a senior in HS last year.

I don't intend that as a shot at Caedin, although I'm sure it's coming off that way.

Shaka has talked up other players in the past as well and been right on target.  I'm going to give credence to the bigger sample size of him being right than what happened last season.

For sure,  but the most recent one was Caedin. Fair or not, that still stick out in peoples heads until there's another positive example

Tre Norman and Sean Jones had a bit of hype but they clearly fizzled more than they sizzled.

I think Owens is probably the primary backup at 1-5.

When NJ comes out, Owens goes to the 3 and Nolan/Stevens handle the ball.

When Stevens comes out, Owens goes to the 3 and Nolan goes to the 2.

When Nolan or Parham come out, Owens is a straight positional swap.

When Fru comes out, Royce goes to the 5.

I hope the hype about MPIII portends something good, but I really didn't see much last year (I know, from a HS kid). Nash I'm worried about. Got to the @DeP game last year and in the warm-ups he made six 3's in a row. Would love to see him blossom, but am worried about the shoulder/layoff. Miletic seems to be buried behind a lot of guys, not so sure
he won't look elsewhere. Hoping DO will be the big surprise this year but it might be Johnston.

SchnitzelBoy

I think Nash will get limited run this season if Porter is eligible, but I can see Shaka really making a push to have Nash develop into a ballhandler that can shoot for next season.

It would be awesome for Nigel to come out of the game and the opposing defense immediately has to deal with a lights-out shooter. It just gives a different look, especially if Nash is paired with another playmaker like Nolan.
