Quote from: Galway Eagle on July 30, 2026, 10:10:18 AMSorry that should've been a single not double quote. Your exact quote was "very few people". You still flung crap at a wall with no supporting evidence admitting it's an opinion on a message board, and it's a bad opinion at that. No logic, no evidence to it.

It's completely logical. I'm not surprised you can't understand why.

I guess we have your white flag.

No I just don't have the inclination to deal with your childishness anymore. Sometimes I engage when I give you the benefit of the doubt but it always ends up with you pounding sand and being mentally unable to function without insulting people. It's frankly sad, my 2yr old can engage in debate more politely.

That's because your two year old is likely smarter than you.

Anyway, I made multiple good points but you seem either unwilling or unable to understand them.

Quote from: TallTitan34 on July 30, 2026, 09:44:24 AMWe here at Scoop are probably the biggest fans considering we are talking about Marquette basketball at the end of July.

There seem to be a handful of people here who actually are upset the games aren't being streamed.  Is the cost worth it to Marquette to make 10-15 people happy?

I think you're confused as to how much this would cost.  Anyone traveling with the team could broadcast the game from their cellphone sitting on a tripod.  If I was at the gym I could have streamed it to YouTube for exactly zero dollars.

Even if only 10-15 people watched (a truly made up number) it would still be worth it.

Sending someone to Vancouver to stream something for 10-15 people would not be worth it. At all. That would be embarrassing in every way.

Sending someone there for 600-1,000 views, which was reported as a common figure up above, MAY be worth it. But Marquette didn't think so. For whatever reason.

In the end, it's not that big of a deal.

Quote from: mug644 on July 30, 2026, 10:17:46 AMThat's my speculation also, as it seems like it would've been an easy marketing move. That said, I find it a bit silly to "hide" game footage. The things that a scouting team (and future opponent) could see and use now are pretty likely to change at least a bit by the beginning of the season. And, "real" opponents (ie, not cupcakes) are going to have at least two games of regular season film before we face Michigan.

That's a bit of a red herring argument.  If Shaka is truly worried about scouting then it should have been a closed door exhibition.  Surely, some enterprising young man or woman could attend these games, record them, and sell them to schools for scouting purposes.  Sort of shoots the excuse down rather easily.

They don't need to send a person to Vancouver to specifically do this.  Don't be absurd.  Someone could literally set up the camera phone before the game, leave it unattended, and then pick up the camera after the game.

This is such a strange hill to die on.  lol

Seriously, I can't believe people think these are good points. My lord... If you are going to stream, you make it a quality stream - and that might be worth it! Not something like a 5th grade dad does with his travel team.

Sure you could, but that is going to be a very low-quality effort. Is that worth it? I'm sure for some, yes. Others, the answer would be a no.

It would be neither.  It would be simple and effective.  Not everything needs an ESPN level production to promote the team.

I feel sad for you that had you thought about this topic for more than 3 entire seconds you'd probably agree with me.  But you've made your opinion known so now instead of just admitting your first thought was kind of stupid, you're being snarky as usual.  It's fine, but don't expect me to take you seriously on this topic since I know your heels are dug in, and admitting you're off base is an impossible ask.

No one is forcing anyone to watch.  If they don't like the free stream because it doesn't have commentary or a moving camera they can click the X in the upper right corner.

My three closest Marquette friends and I have a text chain going during every game. They also appreciate it when I relay news that I read here on Scoop. Most recently, they were glad I sent them a couple of summaries of the open practice that Scoopers generously provided. In other words, they are big MU hoops fans, even though they don't hang around here with all of us lunatics.

Had a stream of yesterday's game been available, each of them would have been interested. They might or might not have watched the whole thing, because they're not nuts like most of us here, but they definitely would have checked it out.

I am not "angry" that the stream wasn't made available, and it will not affect my support of the program one iota. I will still attend 2-3 games this season, as I would have whether or not MU streamed it.

But to me, it just makes sense to stream the games and to let fans know you're streaming the games. There is interest, some fans would watch, and it's easy to do. Purdue had no problem doing it.

Anyway, 18 played 18 minutes - eerie! That was more than either Fru or Nigel played, demonstrating once and for all that Shaka has an evil plan to start 18 at both center and point guard this season.

I completely don't agree with you.

Putting together a stream of a game certainly doesn't have to be ESPN quality. It can be local D3 school quality, of which there are many examples. And as I said above, that might be worth it. If Marquette decided to do that, more power to them. Purdue did this and I am sure Marquette could do as well.

But just setting up a phone in a corner? Nah. Watering down the brand to the point where it's the equivalent of grandma facetiming in a little league game is definitely NOT worth it.

That's okay, you don't have to agree.

But Marquette is sort of already watering down the brand.  There are a ton of missed opportunities for fan engagement, and they don't seem to care or notice.

MUbiz

The gym they were at already had all the cameras and equipment set up — they just needed to hit 'go live.' There was no cost involved, or at most a negligible one. You can literally go on Hudl and look at Langley Christian's previously streamed games to see the setup was already in place. Pulling the feed a few hours before the ame was a MUBB or Shaka decision.

And no one from MUBB nor Shaka are here to explain the decision and thus we'll never know the real reason. So, maybe the conversation can end? Please?
