The board is quiet - too quiet. After the spellbinding back and forth in the Crowdis thread, our warriors are spent.

Mods, what is the longest time the board has had no posts (since it got to critical mass)?

I thought maybe Buddy Holly's old band was reuniting.

Pretty good comedy.

" the drills now involve getting to the hoop and adjusting to bumping and banging while moving down the lane"

lol. Yeah, they never drilled this in the past. smh

This paragraph represents everything odd about Dodds:

"Alex Egbuonu...the 6-6 245 lb. freshman.  He can use his upper body to power through moves to the basket....can take contact and bounce back to create spacing....2G Rickey Pierce of the Bucks used to create space when posting up by using an unique head butt to the defenders chest to create space for a fallaway shot....Alex will be able to go chest to chest ...take the blow and come up shooting."

First...too...many...ellipses.

Second, what is up with the random Rickey Pierce observation? Can he come up with a parallel that is less than 40 years old?

Basketball peaked in 1986, therefore every reference point should date back to 1986.

The Sultan

I think Dodds' brain "peaked" in 1986.

"he looked outstanding in the full court dribbling drills where he had to navigate around two line sets of pylons...."

Remarkable that a high-major college basketball player can dribble around pylons.

forgetful

I love that in the close finishing drill, one player still bricked an uncontested lay-up.

MU82

I will say that it would be great if Damarius improves so much that he can be an effective starting wing, which would let Minessale come in off the bench at 1, 2 or 3 as needed.

Not counting on that, obviously, but it would be a nice setup.

Nah. But close. We'll lose to Wisconsin again and Viper will be in the Psych ward of the local hospital for a while after the game. His BIL will visit him there and go over every detail of the game, including Hamilton's blown bunny in the final seconds that would have resulted in a buzzer beater W for Marquette.

If DO is at BEast starter caliber, good things ahead.

Hope he continues to grow. Like hearing the 3 pt shooting is improving.

it's still early.

Yeah ... Dodds' " brain " ... lol

He's impressed that they are working on things that every HS frosh team in the
Country works on -

Shooting. Dribbling. Finishing thru contact.  Wow

Let's keep the PCA talk to the MLB thread, OK?

Dodds comes up with painfully old-brained references but he's a net positive for MU basketball. The more coverage and insight we can get, the better. I'm loving what I read in that article. We do need to take it with a grain of salt because Dodds is the definition of a homer.

-If Fru is actually better than advertised? Nigel-Fru could be the second coming of Tyler-Oso. We so badly need 12-15 points a night from him on moderate usage and high efficiency.
-Damarius has had so many ups and downs in 2 seasons that could be explained by the injuries. If this healthy offseason actually helps him realize the potential that is plain to see when he's on the floor, this could be awesome. Steady 35% shooting from three and his drunks could turn him into a 10ppg guy quickly. Also, his rebounding is impressive and could help us in that dept.
-The same potential that MPIII has looks like it could be unlocked. Him putting on muscle will help everything he does inside the arc. And his 3-point shot could become more reliable. Coaching up his defense will be key.
-Love that Egbuonu seems game-ready, and that's a great thing long-term. Could have monster soph seasons to augment the lineup of junior and seniors in 2027-28
-Josh Clark might figure it out this offseason to become a sturdy backup center. 10 solid minutes as a rebounder, lob threat, and rim protector is all we need!

Concerns?
-Very little mention of Minessale, and him being viewed an option off the bench gives me pause. His versatility should still get him PT.
-Nothing on Ian Miletic or Nash Walker. Will these guys be able to get on the floor at all? We need shooters
-Dodds giving Caedin attention suggests he thinks #18 will be on the floor next season.

He's an imbecile for working on those things. Should only be working on having all the players taking turns tarring and feathering 18.
