Yup. I'm seriously wondering what would motivate the NFL's powers-that-be to rig games not against Team A, Team B, Team C, Team X, Team Y or Team Z, but against the Green Bay Packers.

Besides for cutting Carlson, of course. That goes without saying.

Your post seems totally rational. I have often come on Scoop and made fun of people who blame referees for losses whether it be the Packers or Marquette. And GB did their best to give the game away ( as did Detroit with resident genius and kneecap biter Dan Campbell).

But something IS going on. I don't know why. But when Tom Brady - the man most responsible for the sissification of the NFL - being incredulous over the phantom roughing the passer calls, you have to wonder why.

Reputation.  The Packers are viewed as a sloppy team, because they are.  Also, refs are having a bad year across the board and every fanbase agrees on that.

Ignoring the inherent bias of being a sloppy team is easier said than done.  Being incompetent is an NFL issue.  The game is faster than ever and the athletes getting bigger.  If the league cared, they'd invest far more in training and developing replacements.  They'll only care if people stop spending $ on the product and sponsors abandon ship.

Also, the league needs to add the eye in the sky to roughing penalties on QBs.  College does it with targeting and the NFL has far better resources.

Anyway, my sympathy for the Packers is low as long as they employ Josh Jacobs on the active roster.

Sometimes teams are just on the wrong end of bad calls. That doesn't mean there is a conspiracy. It just means that we notice it more because it is happening to a team we follow.

It would be the single most damaging incident to the NFL if it was proven, or even mostly proven, to be true. I would have a hard time trusting that NFL games were honest competitions. I could wrap my head around a dishonest ref or two, but a NFL directive to influence the outcome of games could implode the NFL (I'm sure some other pro football would quickly step into the void).

Granted I'm not a Packer fan, but I would guess it is a weird convergence of the NFL's dumb rules to protect QBs and questionable calls by the refs. Questionable calls which happen in every NFL game by imperfect refs.

This.

Every team's fans believe their heroes "got jobbed."

I am not a Packers fan, but, like Brady, it was obvious to me that GB was on the wrong end of most of the bad calls yesterday. It sucks when it happens, but it happens. I do know that the refs didn't make the domestic abuser drop a pass that hit him in the hands, nor did they make Anders Jr. miss two (more) kicks.

Absolutely positively this. Hopefully they implement this no-brainer solution for next season.

Seattle should permanently wear these uniforms. It's not even close which set of jerseys are awesome (these) versus their current awful uniforms.

The Thursday night game with the Seattle and Denver both wearing the throwbacks were amazing.  But totally agree, I don't think there is any team that has such a clear difference between the aesthetics of the "old" and "current" than Seattle.  And its not just nostalgia like Tampa, they are just simply way better looking.

Like Tampa, I think both got rid of their original look as part of a reset with new owners. Or at least when the team moved to the NFC.

I get it, but yeah their original look is better.

O C'mon. The early NFL teams had dark uniforms if you were home and light uniforms if you were on the road due to that fact the games were televised in Black&White so the viewer could distinguish between the home team and road team. No wonder they were "dull".

We can never forgive the Seahawks for introducing the lime green plague into professional sports uniforms.

Ex-Packer great Emanuel Wilson (now forced into action for Seattle) had almost three times as many rushing yards last night as Kenneth Walker had for the Chiefs.

The Seahawks just acquired the Colts' best offensive lineman, guard Quenton Nelson, for a 2027 third-rounder and 2028 fifth-rounder. I like it.

As for Indy, it might just be the start of them tearing apart their roster. Even Jonathan Taylor could be moved.

I'm not greedy. I'd be perfectly happy with whatever record is necessary for the Seahawks to make the playoffs, followed by them winning all of their postseason games. Again.

Meanwhile, you must be really pizzed off that Milwaukee sportswriters are actually claiming that the Brewers are "good."

I get the Colts going into a bit of a rebuild mode, but this screams "we just don't want to pay the guy in the March." Quality guards can play a long, long time in the league and unless they have some inkling that Nelson wants to retire early, there's no reason to think he couldn't be a high-quality player in their next contention window.

And now the Colts are sending DeForest Buckner back to the 49ers.
