Well, Love was money all night. Other than that, kind of a rough game.

Apparently the context was a Packers fan in the stands chirping at bears fans. Nothing to do with what was happening on the field

Between the taunting and RTP penalties sometimes the NFl makes it too obvious that the refs jobs are to manage a spread vs officiate a football game.

Breathe on any QB, and you get a roughing penalty.

Meanwhile, Eagles PR Britain Covey was almost beheaded by a clothesline tackle ... and nothing.

Yes, if you watch the clip you'll see a penalty flag flying ... but the call was on an Eagles player for holding!

I mean other than the head coach seemingly not doing anything to contribute to anything, it seems they are handling this the right way unless I'm missing something.

I wish Jalen a full and speedy recovery and look forward to watching him refuse to throw to the middle of the field next season.

From The Athletic:

For all the criticism directed at first-year Chargers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, Just Herbert's decline dates to Jim Harbaugh's arrival in 2024.

Herbert ranked seventh in expected points added per pass play under two other head coaches and three offensive coordinators across his first four seasons. He ranks 23rd under Harbaugh, and the trend is unmistakable (12th in 2024, 21st last season and 32nd this season).

Lot of rumors about Herbert not really being locked in/committed to football.  Would sort of seem to match up with his performance as of late.

McDaniel got a lot of heat at the end of his Miami tenure about QB play, but he had Tua playing really well before his head got absolutely scrambled.  He hasn't stemmed the bleeding with Herbert but that may be beyond him if some of what is being talked about is true.  FWIW, as bad as they've been overall, the Chargers have had a good rushing offense this year.

Ironically, if McDaniel gets fired, they likely promote Gase...who is the passing game coordinator...which has been atrocious.

Bad news from The Athletic ...

Jalen Hurts was diagnosed with blood clots in both of his lungs and will be out for the remainder of the season.

Harbaugh also thought JJ McCarthy should have been the #1 overall pick in the draft.

The Greatest Team Ever Assembled has messed up a bazillion times already ... and they've also been unlucky with bad bounces and injuries.

The latest:

Davonte Adams will miss 6-10 weeks. So one of the best red-zone players in the league could miss the rest of the regular season.

Also ...

DT Poona Ford ruptured his triceps and will be out for the season; DL Kobie Turner strained his groin and will miss multiple weeks; and K Blake Grupe's Rams career might be over after one quarter. He suffered a torn ACL trying to make a tackle, and the Rams say he's done for the year.

One thing about a Super Team in any sport is that depth can be an issue because big salaries are being paid to stars so there's less money for good role players. The Rams weren't an especially deep team when the season started, especially along the lines, and now they're un-deeper.

Quote from: tower912 on October 19, 2026, 05:33:56 PMAny available DB's?

The big-money DB they got from KC, Trent McDuffie, missed the last game. So probably not.

Don't forget that in addition to limiting their depth by stockpiling stars, the Rams opted not to use their #1 draft pick on a player who could have helped them this season, instead taking the QB they hope will one day replace Stafford. Kinda arrogant, really, though if Ty Simpson turns out to be any good it'll have been worth it.

The Detroit secondary is their achilles heel.   I have been joking since the 80s that being a Detroit DB is akin to being a red shirt on an away mission on the OG Star Trek.  Poor long term outlook.  Signed on Tuesday, start on Sunday, injured in the third quarter.

Punt returners are fungible. NFL-quality quarterbacks are not.

I also think there are too many soft roughing calls, but I get it.
