Trust me, when he threw that pick last night, dentists across the greater state of Wisconsin pointed at their TVs last night and said, "told you"

I am not sure a team could play worse and still win a game.

I'm not sure how much was simply the terrible OL, how much was bad playcalling/preparation, or what...but after the Panthers scored the TD, their final 8 plays were all a complete disaster.  The 2 pt conversion, the 4 and out, and the final haphazard 3 planes.

Running up the gut on 3rd and 7 at midfield down 8 was something

Which team's offense was more of a disaster in the 4h quarter?   A couple of first down at any time and the Packers win by 14+

Wow ... Joe Buck and Troy Aikman HATE each other! But they no doubt will be smiling when ESPN cameras show them in the booth for the Super Bowl - the first time the network will broadcast the game, and almost surely the final game of the Buck-Aikman pairing.

Quote from: Uncle Rico on October 30, 2026, 07:24:55 AMSuper Bowl wins when plumbers and dentists were playing is like bragging about winning the NIT
...and we turned down the NCAA to play in the NIT and won that Championship which played dividends in AL's recruiting. We even forced the NCAA to make a rule that a team can't refuse to play in their tournament which is quite a feat to brag about as they must have felt threatened by choosing the NIT over them. All I can guess is that the first two Super Bowls the Pack won are nothing to brag about, but one WS Championship is.

The educated take from Rico would have been bragging about winning the NCAA back in the day. The NIT was the more prestigious championship. But maybe his point is nothing counts prior to 2000?

Al turning down the NCAA was really a dumb decision.

The NIT was not more presigious championship when Marquette won it.

Then why are we celebrating our NCAA Championship?

Then why did they make a rule to prevent teams from choosing which tournament to play in.

These are the great off-season discussions/arguments of MUScoop (in an NFL thread  ;D )

Because they didn't want people turning them down.

Anyway, do you really think that Marquette winning the NIT was more prestigious than UCLA winning the NCAA tournament that same year?

It absolutely wasn't, except in the eyes of a few old Marquette fans who want to justify Al's decision.

He's not.  It was a stupid decision.  Doesn't matter.  He would have been kicked out of a game during the tournament anyways costing them a win.  But winning silver is good enough for some.

John Wooden won seven straight titles only by avoiding the NIT.
