Quote from: tower912 on May 28, 2026, 08:55:39 PMShaka did a 30 minute presser and 30 minutes on Homer's show and Crowdis was never mentioned.

Wonder if there is an actual issue, or if he just hasn't signed yet.

Quote from: jfp61 on May 28, 2026, 08:51:49 PMI "attacked" the idea that he should start over a 20 PPG transfer.

Because that idea is bad.

Ah, so you don't take every opportunity possible to criticize Owens. I must have you confused with someone else.

Quote from: Vander Blue Man Group on May 28, 2026, 08:35:03 PMShaka presser from today - some good stuff.

-Talks plan for PG when Nigel is getting a rest.
-As far as that goes, said getting a pure backup 1 didn't make sense (as I said many times)
-Excited about Phillips - thinks he can take a leap
-Will trigger additional HDS

"One of the things we learned - you talk about lessons from the transfer portal - is when you have Nigel James Jr., what other point guards, A, wanna come here? And B, does it make sense, when you factor in all the considerations, to bring in here?"

Bottom line: It would have been great if we could have gotten another PG and/or another big. But kids in the portal are transferring in great part because they want to start and play a major role.

Thanks! Nobody would've known or discussed this if you hadn't pointed it out!

And he's not really lined up for any minutes outside of foul trouble and injury.

He's certainly going to play some regardless of foul trouble and injuries

I'm legitimately baffled as to why you believe this.
He was getting first-half minutes outside of foul trouble and injury at the end of last season. All that's changed since then is Fru replacing Gold as the starter.

Shaka mentioned just last week that he's been "good in the Al for a few years now. They just need to get it to translate to the Fiserv Forum."

So he's certainly expected to play.

Eric Williams used to start over Jae Crowder. Didn't mean he was getting meaningful minutes. Buzz tried working Yousapha Mbao into the top of a 1-2-2 press early in games. Didn't mean he was getting meaningful minutes.

I'll just continue to quote this.

Quote from: wadesworld on March 25, 2026, 04:28:25 PMAlready addressed this, and it's pretty much #fakenews #lies.

The last 19 games of the season, Caedin averaged 8.9 mpg.  In those 19 games, he played 10+ minutes in 8 of them.  One was against Zuby in a game Ben didn't play, one was in a game Royce played 25 minutes because of foul trouble (4 fouls), one was against Zuby and Royce played 29 minutes because of fouls (4 fouls), one was a game where Royce didn't play, one was a 22 point win when we were curbstomping Providence from start to finish, and one was with Ben playing 15 minutes because of foul trouble (4 fouls).

So in 3 of the final 19 games he played 10+ minutes without any foul trouble or entire games being missed by Royce/Ben.  One of those was a 22 point blowout, a second was exactly 10 minutes.

His role became extremely diminished, and that was with a significantly worse 5 than what we'll have this year. Plus another offseason to bulk up for Royce, as well as Philips and Owens to bulk up to play some 4 and Egbuonu joining the program to play some 4.

Listen, don't let me stop you, BeeJay (who's just working to feed your panic), panda, and orange soda from weekly panic attacks about a guy who was getting under 9 mpg at a spot we were worse off at than we will be next year for the next 5 months.

Clark and Hamilton will also have the opportunity to practice against a real center for the next 5 months.

That can give the staff a better read on if they're improving.

"Well embedded moles" weren't leaking stuff out to Rothstein about Williams and Mbao. Furthermore they lasted two and one seasons here respectively. It's a nonsense comparison. They were nothing more than novelty acts - not players expected to play significant minutes.

I think what concerns people was last year's complete misevaluation of Hamilton. And now they are going to roll it back with him as a back-up. I completely get why people don't feel great about that option.

Dont disagree, just noting that Williams was a highly touted recruit who put up big numbers in high school. He just didn't make the transition to CBB and flamed out at Sam Houston State.

I don't feel great about that option.  But the extent to which people think our back-up 5s can impact our season is ludicrous.

I don't disagree. I think if it weren't for last year's disasterclass at the 5, people wouldn't be that concerned. I also think it plays into a lot of people's talking points about Shaka being "portal avoidant."

I hope it works out. We will see.
