High hopes, and then we saw him on the court, often completely lost. I believe that after his time at MU he grumbled about his MUBB experiences.

I think that the speed of the American college game was the greatest challenge to him. By the time he made his move whether on O or D, it was too late.
Wild horses couldn't drag me into either political party, but for very different reasons.

On a serious note, didn't Wisconsin lose to a Canadian team in a scrimmage during one of their good years?

Could invite Harry Froling to the games!

I think Liam McMorrow was Canadian also
Bring back FFP!!!

Wasn't he medically ineligible because of knee issues or back issues? Wonder what that 09-10 team looks like if he was cleared to play
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

No. He was declared medically incapacitated by MU because of a different issue (not knee or back).

He later went on to play college and pro bball.

edit: and, more recently, pro wrestling.

It was his heart, IIRC.

So did he get an operation? Or was that like a Buzz excuse to not have him lose eligibility? Because it seems astonishing he'd be allowed to play at another school and have all the pro experience he's had if he was truly having medical issues

I was in school at the time and from what I remember he wasn't medically cleared to play, left MU, got a second (maybe third, who knows) opinion, got cleared, and went to a school in Tennessee where he had a decent career

Declaring him medically incapacitated enabled MU to keep him on scholarship without being a counter. Generally, once declared you're done... but he was able to play with Tenn Tech.

He wasn't good - two pretty meh seasons without a ton of PT. But, would be great as a backup 5 this year smh

It wasn't just Wisconsin. Carleton University beat a lot of good American teams in their heyday back in the 2010s.

They won 13 Canadian CBB titles in a 16 year stretch and over time tended to beat American teams more often than not. Duke famously ducked them in 2018 as well. Their coach from that era, Dave Smart, is now going into his 3rd year as head coach at Pacific.
