Seems important to be aware of given the amount of people on here to decried that anyone who pointed out Israel's turning a blind eye to violence was antisemtic. It was all fun and games when it was Muslim communities but now it's Christians.

Not including the US electing Trump twice, I don't know of any other country that has squandered the amount of goodwill Israel had after the attacks to October 7.

World leaders have voiced concern after Israeli police prevented Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin patriarch of Jerusalem, from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre on Sunday.

Pizzaballa had attempted to travel to the church within Jerusalem's Old City with the Rev. Francesco Ielpo, the church's official guardian, to celebrate Palm Sunday Mass, according to the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

It said the two were stopped en route and compelled to turn back, marking "the first time in centuries" that Palm Sunday Mass could not be celebrated at the church, which is the holiest site in Christianity, built where many believe Jesus was crucified.

Agree, this was my concern all along. Israel, which is currently led by extremists, would go way way way too far, and go the route of collective punishment.

As a result, antisemitism would rise, risking retaliatory collective punishment.

Violent religious extremism always begets more violent religious extremism.

The current leadership of Israel is a major problem.

To add to the actions of the settlers. Israeli Police also blocked a Catholic cardinal from the Holy Sepulcher on Palm Sunday.

Once we're targeting non-whites in this country, religion affiliation will be the next targets.

Simon Peter was a well known antisemite.

Israel destroyed the mausoleum of Simon Peter, apostle of Christ, in the village of Shama in southern Lebanon

These 3 religions do know that to an outside of observer.... they are all basically the same right?

I'm not sure why outsiders being ignorant has any relevance here.

The fact that you couldn't compose a grammatically correct sentence is pretty ironic.

Regardless, the three religions you reference are actually quite different from one another. And if "outside observers" don't understand those differences, and make assumptions that they are "basically the same," they are being ignorant.

It would be similar to saying Buddhism and Hinduism are "basically the same" because they share similar roots, but in fact have significant differences.

There's Catholics who actively hate the Jesuits.

There's Christians who actively hate Catholics.

Jews that hate zionists

A war between the Shia and Sunni sects of Islam

But sure go ahead and expect the three Abrahamic religions to just get along because they all believe in Abraham... seems possible

I think the more pertinent comparative question is whether Israeli Jews appreciate how fast American Christians will "other" them if right wing news outlets start feeding them stories of Christians being treated unfairly in Israel.

I'm not sure that will happen, but even if it does, I'm not sure it makes much of a difference.
Hardcore evangelicals aren't pro-Israel because they care about the fate of Israelis. They're pro-Israel because they think this is all part of the preordained End of Times. I'm skeptical whether Fox News clips about the Israeli government blocking a church service is going to change someone's mind about that.

Especially when they're blocking Catholics.

Proceeds to insert splits and sects of the same 3 religions to show my point.

I agree this particular event isn't going to turn the tide.  I just think its representative of a few trends that could coalesce in a dark place. As the war drags on, there is going to be a ton of hay to make on the right trying to thread the needle of how this happened without openly blaming the admin.  "Israel made us/tricked us into it" is a convenient re-dedication to isolationism and sidles up against some old and effective tropes.  At the same time, if the Netanyahu admin doesn't feel like it can politically reign in its right wing, domestic conflicts with Christians may keep popping up.  I think that ultimately there will be enough domestic conflict with Muslims for Israelis to keep a lid on issues with Christians, but its within the realm of possibility that it becomes at least a thorn in the side for Netanyahu trying to keep Trump/the US onside.

More so that groups from the outside find it crazy the amount of infighting between three very similar religions.

When you get down to sects of each religion it gets even wildier. A layman doesn't know the difference between a jesuit and a normal catholic, most wouldn't be able to do you the differences between catholic or any other form of christianity. Minus the full crazy ones, like Mormon's, or Jehovah witnesses.

Ah. I see you moved off of your "basically the same" nonsense.

Regardless, I don't think they are all that same either. While they supposedly worship the same God, they do so with much different understandings about God's teachings. The differences are really important! So again, it comes down to people being ignorant about what those differences are.

Words have meaning. Calling me "stupid" because you are using different words interchangably is, once again, highly ironic on your part.

Furthermore, you really aren't addressing the entire point of the post. Which leads me to believe you are just saying stuff without any logic behind it.
