Quote from: MuggsyB on July 05, 2026, 06:07:29 PMFrom what I've read, the Brewers have a plethora of great young talent coming up soon. Would they realistically part with some of them for Skubal?

Obviously not Made. Hopefully not Fischer. They should call Fischer up if they get Skubal. They aren't going to win a series against the Dodgers if they aren't scoring more than 4 runs in it, and they won't with this lineup. Fischer mashes everywhere he plays.

They should've left Pratt down and let everyone think he was something other than Joey Ortiz 2.0 and included him in a Skubal package.

Hmmm....okay.  I'll take your word here.

There's a reason Fischer was slower to get to AA. He has the splits of Joey Gallo. His power is tantalizing, but he won't be show ready for a bit

Marlins starter Eury Perez had a perfect game through 7 innings yesterday, and his team led the A's 8-0. But it was only his third start back from the IL (leg strain), and team officials had decided beforehand that he would throw only about 90 pitches. So even though he was still firing it 98 mph and was in total command, Perez was pulled after 92 pitches by manager Clayton McCullough.

The Marlins have been one of MLB's surprise teams - they're tied with St. Louis for the last NL wild-card spot - and McCullough said he was thinking about both the team's postseason aspirations and Perez's long-term health.

FWIW, the Marlins almost blew the lead after Perez was pulled, winning 9-8.

Brewers bring up another top 100 prospect that isn't quite one of their blue chippers in Luis Lara. Will be fascinated where they try to carve out playing time with Mitchell playing as well as he is. Wonder if they can give Yelich an extended break before the ASG

As always, Cardinals fans showing out today. Packed to the brims as they make a push to chase the division leaders.

To be fair, this is a rescheduled game from May and there is a game later tonight.

The Brewers are a hilarious team.

Somehow have a horrible offense to watch, yet score a lot of runs. Doesn't feel like they have enough on offense to win a World Series but maybe the product isn't finished quite yet.

Amazing how they just keep winning.

They don't have enough offense.

Correct. This team is no different than last year's. Their offense scored a lot in the regular season because the weather is hot and they grind out opposing pitching staffs. Come October, everyone is grinding out opposing pitching staffs and everyone else has more pop in their lineup.

Agreed, but I'll give them the deadline to try and actually do something for once.

Same as it has been. They are good enough to win a lot of games through attrition. Nothing about this team tells me they can win a best of 7 in October

Everyone needs to calm down.  The Brewers are legit!  They will add a few pieces before the deadline.  I agree they need to add a bat but I expect that to happen.

2nd best record in MLB and people here are attacking them.  I understand the playoffs are a different animal, but that's a damn good team and organization.

I think they deserve to be critiqued. You can't go this long without a title and not be critiqued.

They shouldn't sell the farm, but they should offload some pieces to get better. They are very good. They should be trying to be the best.

That's fine but criticize after the deadline is all I'm saying.

No one is attacking them. Good lord. They are pointing out their weakness is hitting for power, which is important in the post season.

It's doubtful they do much at the deadline simply based on history.

They're being unfairly attacked imo.  They are 58-33.  Each season is different and the Dodgers are an absolute beast.  Every team has weaknesses in comparison to them.  Let's wait and see what they do before the deadline.

I can be calm with issues that require patience.  Not so much when action and urgency is imperative.  :)

OK, well wake me when you have a cogent baseball thought.
